Karate is an excellent tool for improving a student's self-discipline, respect for others and physical restraint. Richard has developed scheme's to be used in local schools.Energy to Burn. The scheme is for Year 8 and 9 students, and provides them with an outlet for their extra energy at lunchtimes, through structured physical exercise. A desirable by-product of the scheme in that the students return to lessons composed and more able to concentrate. Richard jointly runs another scheme called Time Out, which is designed for students who have inclusion issues and are generally disruptive of the learning of others when in a classroom environment. The goal is for the students to first determine the root of their problems, and how to deal with them in a safe mature manner. The sessions are all about control, discipline and self-confidence. Richard has also developed the Creative Action program, The program is based on the theme of action movies, specifically action choreography.
