Silverpetal runs courses and specialist workshops for adults primarily to learn silver jewellery making skills in a purpose built jeweller's workshop. other craft subjects are also available as weekend specialist courses throughout the year.

Silver Jewellery Making Courses and Specialist Classes

Love Crafts, Love beading? Now try making silver jewellery and your own silver findings by attending a weekend beginner's course at Silverpetal studios. The course will guide complete beginners in to this wonderful creative pastime.

The weekend beginner's course is 2 days long, Saturday & Sunday 10am – 4.00pm and limited to 6 students only per class.

This introductory weekend will provide beginners with the basics of the subject including annealing, soldering, pickling, cutting, forming, making findings and texturing.

The course will focus on developing the basic skills of silver jewellery making, good studio habits, the correct use of tools and an in-depth knowledge of fabrication techniques. An induction in to the workshop & safe practises will also be given.

Copper materials to make the projects is included and a certificate will be awarded upon completion of the 2 days. (An upgrade to silver is available on the Sunday at an extra cost)

Attending one of these classes will enable beginners to go on to attend any of the normal term time mixed ability classes. Please e-mail or telephone for further info or to request a booking form.

One day Specialist Classes are full day 10am - 4pm workshops to learn a specific subject area. These run throughout the year and cover stone setting, polymer clay, chasing and repousse, wire weaving, cold, enamelling and more.

Term Time Weekly Classes

Term time weekly studio classes run in 8 week blocks of morning, afternoon or evening sessions, each being 2 ½ hours long.
Beginner's are not taken on to the term time classes so you must have either completed the beginner's weekend or have some prior ability within the subject to be able to join.

Studio Time and Catch-up Time

Studio time is non-directed extra time available on an hourly basis. It must be booked in advance.
This is only available to current or past students who are known to the studio. It is to enable students to book a little extra time to finish something off or just to attend as an extra to the normal weekly studio class.

Catch-up time is available to students attending a course to make up for any missed sessions during the term which has been paid for.

The classes offer excellent value for money. Beginner's 2 day weekend course £95. Specialist day workshop £48. Weekly 8 week course £76. Studio time £15 a session.

Our unique 5 week course offers a complete learning experience for a total beginner. Come along and learn the art of silversmithing and jewellery making in our fully equipped, custom built studio. Make 4 items to take home and show off to your friends. Silverpetal jewellery courses are friendly and relaxed with refreshments available and free onsite parking. This course is ideal as a starter in the subject of jewellery making. You will be able to progress further in to the world of jewellery making either by attending further classes after the course - or crafting at home.
