Facilities

All rooms have the following; en-suite with underfloor heating, - some with shower some with bath, TV with freeview, complimentary WiFi, tea & coffee tray. We have a private car park at the rear of the building. Our guests have use of the Salutation Hotel swim & gym facilities. A pass from us gives you access to their gym, swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, hot tub & steam room. They also have a spa where treatments can be enjoyed at an extra cost.

Position

The Smallwood House is on Compston Road, within a very short walk we have a plethora of restaurants - all very good- pubs & shops. The buses to most of the surrounding area travel through Ambleside and the bus stop is just a 2 minute walk from here. There are many walks to suit all abilities accessible from here, so you can walk out and back to the door. Many other attractions - we don't all have to walk - are within a short drive either in the car or by bus.

Attractions

As already stated, the Lakes is not just for walkers. We have the homes of Beatrix Potter, Wordworth, Ruskin, De Quincey to be visited. Dalton Zoo is great for the children, Winderemere Cruises, with the Aquarium and Motor Museum is a great day out. Bike hire is available if you feel a little more energetic, as is Kayak hire. In Ambleside there are tennis courts, putting green and crazy golf.

The Smallwood House is located in the centre of Ambleside perfect for accessing all areas of the Lake District. We offer bed & breakfast with en-suite rooms access to leisure facilities and private parking.

Snow in Ambleside

The snow has arrived here in Ambleside, although the roads are all clear and useable. The whole area takes on a different look, today is clear blue skies and show capped fells, so beautiful to see.
