We believe we have a responsibility to our landlords and agents to provided them with reports that are a true and accurate reflection of the proposed tenant's current and past status. This is why we independently verify all information and go the extra mile to establish the truth. We do not just take the tenant's word, we actually test what they are telling us.
A prospective tenant may have any number of reasons to be economical with the truth, or to falsify the truth about their employment or to get a friend or relative to pretend to be their previous landlord. Other referencing companies seem to think its okay to call a mobile number, given by the applicant, and ask for a reference. We believe there is no point in asking for a reference unless you have taken the time and effort to establish the person you are asking is the genuine employer or landlord.
