About Us

Hello and thank you for being here today. As a photographer, I often get a very unique and intimate insight into people's lives, whether it's photographing a bride and groom's first kiss or being honoured to take a newborns first ever shots, so it only seems right that I tell you a little bit about myself and why I'm the right person for your photography requirements.
As you have probably guessed by now, my name is Steven Prebble. I was born and bred in beautiful Cornwall many years ago. My father taught me the importance of cherishing memories with his constant use of his Olympus Trip 35mm camera, something I now own. I'm very thankful as I have hundreds of photos from my childhood, often of times and places forgotten. It didn't take me long to realise the importance of a photograph. As the famous photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson said “To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event." This quote really sums it all up. To capture a forgotten smile, laugh or embrace from years gone by is somehow able to bring us back to that moment in time along with all our emotions. For me to be able to take that photo of your precious life moments is an absolute privilege and every time I compose your shot and press that shutter, I know the importance and significance of what I'm about to capture and I know how many years my work will be looked at. It is for this reason that I know that I'm the right person to work with you.

My relationship with photography started too early for me to remember but it was at around 15 when I purchased my first digital camera, I suddenly realised the love I had for this creative outlet. Unfortunately it never crossed my mind that I could ever do this for a living as I really never considered my work to be to a level that I was satisfied with.

About 7 years later (and probably 10 cameras later) I had moved to Cardiff for a change of pace in life. I was asked by a friend to take some photos for a live show of some bands that he was the promoter of. I agreed, went to the show, took some photos and sent them back to him and copies to the bands. It was to my surprise that two of the bands had emailed me back to ask me for more photos and that they would pay me. I was a university student at the time studying an adult nursing degree so I needed all the financial help I could get so I agreed. Those two band shoots were seen by more bands who also suddenly wanted me to work with them. Fast forward a year later and I had a steady flow of music clients each month. Eventually my work was being seen further and further away from Cardiff and a band from London hired me to tour with them for 3 weeks around the UK.

This was the start of my professional photography career. I had just finished my nursing degree and had to make the choice whether to look for a job in that field, or take a punt with a hobby that I lived for. I picked the latter and almost immediately was taken to Europe with two very large bands. My work started being featured on album covers, tour posters, bands websites and social media pages and not long after that, national magazines such as RockSound, Kerrang and Metal Hammer as well as their websites. I suddenly found myself working for some of the biggest record labels and with some of the biggest bands at some of the biggest shows in the UK and Europe.

During this time, I started to branch out to other photography mediums such as weddings, family portraits and modelling work. My modelling work went on to be featured in Front Magazine.

In 2013, I retired from touring photography and also from Cardiff. I missed Cornwall, the Cornish pace of life and most importantly, surfing.

So I've been back in Cornwall for a while now and I'm happily settled. I have decided that this is where I want to spend the rest of my life and where I wish to work from.

During my professional years, I've accumulated several top end cameras, lenses, lighting equipment and stands but all this is insignificant to the most important thing that I've gained in these years. Knowledge and experience. The skills and techniques I've learnt in my life are priceless. So while your best friends cousin may own a fancy looking DSLR camera with some very posh long lenses and has offered to shoot your wedding or newborn for free, they lack what years of full time in the industry have to offer. Just remember how important a photograph is or how precious your grandmother's wedding portrait is to her.

So let's talk. Head over to the CONTACT ME page for my details. I really look forward to us working together in the future.
