First visited this hotel 20 years ago. It is now an up-market hotel with spa and pool. Bedrooms are comfortable and spacious but if you are at the front overlooking the River Leven you will also get some traffic noise from the A590 the other side of the quaint hump-backed bridge. There is a terrace alongside the river which must be great in the summer. The real plus for this hotel is its restaurant, The Roland. The food is excellent and whilst a tad expensive for the location it is well worth it. I had grilled rack of lamb one night and venison the next. Both were the best I have eaten for a long time. There is also a brasserie serving much less expensive food downstairs. Menu looked good but not tried. My only complaint was that the staff were a little off-hand and did not react well a problem was reported.
