Went with some friends to the Bay Horse in Middridge. Our meals were very poor, one prawn sizzler came with literally 1 prawn on it. My chips, as were some of the rest of the party, were like a pastey, white block of lard. When I approached the landlord regarding this he, being unaware that I have ran 3 pubs all with busy restaurants, tried to palm me off with something about the new seasons potatoes being the reason for uncooked chips, seems odd then that some of our party had chips that were a completely different colour. The landlord made no apologies whatsoever and our complaints were ignored as were those of the guy who had a one prawn sizzler, the landlord disappeared off to the kitchen and didn't even have the courtesy to come back to our table in any capacity. Our side salads consisted of a pound of cress, the cheapest salad item available.I accept mistakes are made though to get no help at all from the guy who is suppost to be your host is nothing short of disgraceful. Being as I used to be in the pub trade I have a lot of contacts and will be spreading the word about our cold reception seeing as we spent in excess of £150 in the space of an hour, never again. Good service is utterly critical in the pub business, I spent years dealing with the slightest complaint as quickly, efficiently and thoroughly as humanly possible, even when I didn't feel like it and thought the complaint trivial, an apology at the very least goes a very long way,I had every intention of paying in full for the meal, as I did, but what would an apology and a handfull of fresh chips have cost? My advice on this establishment, go elsewhere.

Improved
Been back to the Bay Horse in Middridge more recently and had lunch. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and happy and the service was excellent. Much improved, I hope they keep this up.
