The Beacon is a superbly situated, late Victorain residence, built as a substantial country house for a wealthy mill owner.
Situated at one end of Heartbeats' 'Aidensfield', The Beacon nestles comfortably at the rear of the common. Standing adjacent to the church, it sits in its own pleasurable, landscaped grounds of over an acre overlooking fields and open moorland.
Parking is available for all guests in the Beacon's own private car park.
If you are seeking a relaxing retreat the beacon will meet all of your requirements. We offer wonderful surroundings, a friendly atmosphere combined with excellent service.
In such an imposing house rooms are spacious, some being panelled or waincoated with appropriate Victorian fittings with a thoughtful mix of old and new it is possible to enjoy present day standards whist still being able to retain the original elegance of the property.
Each of the tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms are centrally heated with colour television and tea and coffee making facilities. Double, twin, and family rooms are offered. The bedrooms in the main house boast wonderful views of the moors, garden or Goathland common, all rooms are non-smoking.
In the converted barn we are pleased to offer a further two double en-suite rooms.
One of these has wheelchair access, and can be made up as either a twin bedded or double room.
In the centre of 'Heatbeat' country, the Beacon has appeared in a number of heatbeat episodes, such as 'Spellbound' starring Catweasel's Geoffrey Bayldon. 'David Stockwell's Ghost' featuring Hermione Norris, had a large proportion of the episode filmed in the bedrooms and public areas of the Beacon. Most recently the room which was used as the doctor's surgery in the early series starring Nick Berry was converted for use as a solicitors office (shown below) in the 'Nightmail' episode guest starring Eric Sykes as the solicitor.
Some of the more avid Heatbeat fans will notice from more than one of the photographs on this website some of the locations for the filming of the cast interviews for the 2006 Christmas special - guest starring 'Grange Hill's' and 'Eastenders' Todd Carty.

Lovely the house is as discribed a mix of old and new. The owner's Carole and Bob ensure that any questions and requests are quickly and cheerfully dealt with. The breakfast is good homely freshly cooked and again this is individual to each guest's requests. The rooms are as described spacious and comfortable while retaining the mix of new and old such a hidden gem!! well worth a visit
