Fish and Seafood in the heart of Berks

The crab in Chieveley is almost in the middle of nowhere, and that's a good enough reason to visit it if you've missed the good old English countryside. It boasts some of the best seafood and fish dishes in Berkshire and won quite a few awards in this category. After tasting some of what's on offer, I tend to agree that the food is indeed of pretty high standard. They source their fish daily from nearby markets and apparently their vegetables are homegrown. The owners are even known to hunt their own game from the nearby fields (is that even legal?!). They don't just do fish. Meat and vegetarian dishes are also on offer and those are pretty tasty too. It's a pricey place so best left for special occasions. They however do an affordable a la carte menu (e.g. £17 for 2 courses). The service is excellent. The staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.
