Located five minutes from Exit 3 on the M3 Southbound is this excellent pub. Mrs Magellen had cumberland sausages, gravy and mash whilst I chose the gammon, chips, vegetablesand egg. Food was delicious and plentiful. The service was friendly and the proprietor Gerry Price was a commanding presence ensuring that all went smoothly. I was expecially impressed to be offered any sort of coffee I wanted (so rare outside London) and the cappuccino was very tasty. The Elizabeth Shaw mint was a great touch. The pub has clearly recently been redecorated and must win the prize of having the best pub loos I have ever seen in the UK. Mrs Magellan was a bit disappointed that her tea was not in a teapot and that, on arrival, the teabag was floating in the boiling water. But a minor gripe in a truly super pub luncheon experience. No wonder it was packed with happy punters. About £40 for two. Good for anyone travelling south along the M3 who wants a break just south of Londonand who wants to avoid the motorway service areas.
