About Us

Come away and spend time in one of our twelve self-catering log-cabins set in natural woodland and enjoy the uninterrupted views of Wensleydale.

The Yorkshire Dales provide interest and recreation for those who are seeking a restful holiday or for those who prefer to be energetic everyday. Within easy reach of the Centre there are heather clad moors, rushing becks, rivers and waterfalls, market towns and quaint villages. Motorists can enjoy the changing scenes of remote country roads and walkers have a splendid choice of footpaths providing easy or challenging walks.

Visitors can explore castles, museums, farms and tea rooms. There are workshops where, Wensleydale cheese, ice-cream, chocolate, rope and teapots are made. Horse-riding, fishing, golf, and swimming are just some of the activities which can be enjoyed nearby.

The Centre attracts groups and organisations for conferences and training events as well as those taking time out for refreshment in this peaceful environment. The Centre has also proved a successful venue for wedding celebrations providing great flexibility for your individual reception needs. Rest and refreshment, scenic beauty, exhilarating activities, places to discover and explore.

Accommodation

The Centre has twelve Scandinavian styled self-catering log cabins. Nine cabins are located in Elm Wood away from the main complex & the other three are located near to our Granary Barn. Here you will find reception and shop, our main meeting room along with a kitchen (for group use) and two lounges.

A laundry room and communal freezer can be found in the centre of Elm Wood and a public telephone box is available for our guests to use near the Granary Barn

The varied use of our Centre means that facilities are comfortable rather than luxurious. All cabins are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, full sized electric cooker, toaster, kettle, plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. The bathrooms have a full size bath and washbasin with separate WC accessed from the bathroom. Each cabin has its own colour television and heating is provided by night storage heaters with small electric heaters also available for additional comfort

The main bedroom has twin beds whilst the second bedroom has a single bed and twin bunk bed. The sitting room bench seat may also be used for two further guest beds should the need arise so that up to seven people could be accommodated.

If we are given notice, then bedding can be made available at a small additional charge.

Each cabin is provided with a cot and high chair for the younger ones.

Five sets of duvets, pillows and under blankets are provided but we do ask that guests bring their own single duvet covers, pillow cases and single bed sheets.

Visitors may bring their own pets with them for a small surcharge. Dogs must be kept on a lead whilst on the Centre property except when being exercised in the dog walking area.

Subsidised Holidays

The Centre is open to all, regardless of gender, culture, disability, race or religious belief or affiliation. We can offer subsidised respite breaks or quiet reflection breaks for those suffering bereavement. Severe or long term illness brings about many stresses such as loss of employment, income, unpredictability of health, inability to travel far; all of which we recognise as adding greater stresses to an already difficult situation and with which we believe we can help

The Jonas Centre is pleased to consider applications for subsidised holidays. Further information is available on our downloads page.

As a charity our funds are extremely limited which means that unfortunately we cannot provide for every single application that we receive. In order to provide a fair and balanced system, applications can only be considered following completion of the Centre's referral form, by a third party such as a member of a welfare/support agency, social service or minister.

After receipt of the referral form contact will be made by the Jonas Centre with the applicant to offer a break. There is a limited number of breaks available during school holidays and applications are likely to be more successful if other times are requested. Mid week breaks are available throughout the year. The referral agency is advised of the progress of the booking.

If for any reason personal or medical care is required this must be arranged with the appropriate provider before confirming a booking. Staff are on site during normal office hours but there is not 24 hour coverage. A payphone is available near the reception building.
