Food:I ordered mango lassi to drink. I explained to my dining companion that lassi was a mixture of yogurt and milk. He liked it. While we waited for our starters we were given plain poppadums and three condiments, chopped onion, yogurt based white dip and a spicy dip. For starters I ordered deep fried cassava. Not greasy but dry. White. It tasted like potato, but not so sweet. A bit like a parsnip, but tastless. I like trying new things and was happy because it was bland. My dinner partner preferred his spicy shish kebab. (The one that looks like a sausage made of dark mincemeat). My main course was chicken korma. Chicken in a mild creamy sauce. Lots of nice big chunks of chicken. Pleasing and feeling. The peshwari nan, a bread pocket with coconut inside, was good. Maybe a bit thin. But conveniently cut into four pieces so we could share it. The sag aloo was no appealing. Spinach looked too dark. I would have liked to try the aloo chana, meaning potato and chickpeas. For dessert I had pistacchio kulfi. Green Indian ice cream. Yummy. Only one sort of coffee, type unspecified, so we did not order it.Menu says all food halal. If I went back I'd try the Karahi Talapia fish, or the ginger chicken.Decor: A couple of pictures on the walls. Bright and clean. Pale pine coloured oblong tables and high back chairs. Cookery area open to view which is jolly, lively and reassuring.Staff and service: Laughing young men from Afghanistan who speak English and Pashtun. Forgot our tap water but very obliging. When taking our order asked if we wanted food standard or spicy.Location: Easy to find, on the corner of the main road. Payment Sign says no credit cards. Menu says cheque accepted with a valid banker's card. Conclusion: Decor clean but spartan. Food, same as many others but with a couple of ice extras.
