About

About Us

All of our boys are celebrated for their individuality; the incredible variety of what MGS has to offer ensures that their characters shine through.

When the shackles of SATs and entrance examinations are removed from our clever nine and ten year olds in the Junior School and innovative teachers given professional freedom, the magic truly blossoms.

The common factor of all our boys is their intelligence and our academic results speak for themselves, but beyond that they represent the broadest range of economic and ethnic background, religious belief, learning styles and special needs.

"Such a good school, such a wonderful melting pot of all sorts of boys"
Sir Ben Kingsley, March 2010

The Adventure

Dare to embrace the unfamiliar. When the shackles of SATs and entrance examinations are removed from our clever seven to ten year olds in the Junior School and innovative teachers given professional freedom, the magic truly blossoms. Philosophy, five languages, Eastern Mediterranean Studies and real science, yes; but Indian dance and cuisine, representative sport and a full scale production of Macbeth only hints at the thrill of learning for the sheer excitement of the process.

Dare to walk away from the straightjacket and tedium of ever more polished and tedious solutions to repetitive exercises in mathematics and English. When very clever youngsters develop and thrive as individuals alongside those with equivalent talent they need the best validation of their achievement. International Baccalaureate, A-level and IGCSE; schemes of accreditation of leaning as diverse as the destinations of our Sixth Form leavers and qualifications that are understood throughout the world. Oxbridge, Durham, UCL, Manchester, and other prestigious UK universities are popular choices, but increasingly it is Harvard, Yale and other Ivy League schools.

Dare to think beyond the obvious and join in The MGS Adventure.

Junior School

Our Junior School is made up of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and housed in bespoke buildings known as Bexwyke Lodge and Plessyngton Lodge.
Our curriculum is exciting; innovative; stimulating; cutting-edge; different and blends our traditional 'grammar school' education with unusual challenges designed to stretch even the most able young man.

We teach the basics thoroughly along with a wide range of skill based activities to seek to broaden the mind and develop natural inquisitiveness. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff from the Junior School provide the majority of the teaching with additional classroom input from Senior School subject specialists in areas such as English, Maths, Art and Modern Foreign and Classical Languages.
Our Junior boys write their own blog which detail stories of their personal experience of the MGS Adventure.

Welcome

When sports, travel, camps, charities, community action, clubs and societies sit as equals with academic and pastoral life, all flourish, each enhanced by the other, each pieces of a jigsaw rather than rivals for time.
