Absolutelt dreadful food

Value

I'm afraid I can't even offer this place one star... but this review board is insisting on at least one star minimum!!! We went for dinner there last night, and it was dreadful... having heard that it supposed to be quite good, we were hugely disappointed. Surly and unwelcoming waiting staff whose idea of table protocol was baffling and laughable.... e.g. if we order alternative drinks to wine, please don't just tip the table napkins out of the wine glasses into an unceremonious heap in the middle of table. And please learn to clear empty glasses upon bringing over a tray of second drinks... you still have the tray with you. As to the food quality and presentation, it was in no way worth the menu pricing, as I expected (for those prices) it to be far better cooked and presented. The nachos starter consisted of all the broken pieces that one finds at the bottom of the bag... in ours, there was a grand total of FOUR, yes FOUR, unbroken ones - the rest were pieces or fragments no bigger than a 5p piece. On top of that the salsa was poured all over the sour cream (why?) and the jalapenos were soggy and tasted about a year of date. Also, your chef urgently needs to learn how to cook vegetables, e.g. peas that were boiled to a dull moss-coloured colour (they just need blanching for a minute in boiling water!), and new potatoes that were undercooked. The risotto was clearly pre-cooked as the rice had expanded to be a gloopy porridge consistency, and no way was it prepared fresh. Not once did anyone ask us how everything was with our main meals - probably too embarrassed to ask - and we hoped the saving grace of dessert would save the day... alas not! Toffee cheesecake that tasted like caramel(!?), accompanied by a cheap vanilla ice cream (over-yellow and sugary like a budget supermarket brand). It is clear nothing was home cooked - certainly not the cheesecake or the chips with the children's meals - and for the pricing, one would expect that to be so. Overall, a rip-off meal in a dismal atmosphere, and we will not be visiting ever again, or recommending it to any friends or colleagues.
