My family and I visited this pub in the middle of a five mile round walk shortly after it had been reopened following it's complete refurbishment. Traditionally, this had been a great walkers pub with lovely roaring fires and basic pub food. Following the refurbishment it is now rather posh and muddy boots would not be welcome! It has been quite sympathetically restored and the decor is very tasteful. There are also a number of tables outside although a number of these face the main road which isn't too pleasant. The food was slow to come, small in portion and very dissapointing overlall. A couple at the next table ordered a portion of chips which arrived twenty minutes later and consisted of six chips stacked beautifully in a "jenga"esque pile. They were not impressed and said that they had paid 50p per chip!
