I wasn't sure what to expect when i was first pushed through the door by my friends. I suppose i had assumed it was a 'regulars only' pub, and made that assumption based on the exterior decor. Don't know why i did that but i was totally wrong. Yes, they have their usual clientelle, but they are so friendly and welcoming. Massive choice of drinks at unbelieveably low prices - something i didn't expect! Serving staff are also really friendly and encourage you to join in the conversation. It is one of the oldest pubs in the area apparently so the interior decor is as you would expect! Recommended for a good night out

The Park Tavern is one of the oldest navy pubs in portsmouth. It is the first port of call for most sailors when leaving the dockyard on their nights out in portsmouth. It is also a very friendly Pub for the locals. It retains all the character of an old fashioned bar with the usual modern twists. On friday afternoons we have a brilliant kareoke where everyone is invited to join in or just come to watch, there is a friendly atmosphere which helps kick start the weekend. we have a pool and darts facilities. The location is great ideal for when popping into the town to do some shopping or to watch the football as we have sky sports so come and enjoy watching the big matches over a pint or just catch up with friends. We also have a loyalty card which is linked with our two sister pubs the kings in southsea and the blue anchor northend, for every nine pints you buy we will give you the tenth free, (but make sure you have your card stamped because we cant give you your free pint without a fully stamped card.)We are sorry if you have children but they are not permitted in the pub,but this is not all bad as this will give you the oppertunity to have adult time.
