Although the Partridge has been in Partridge Green ever since the Horsham to Shoreham railway was opened (when it was The Railway Hotel) it has only had its present name since the years of the Beeching Axe, which swung and killed the line in 1966. Now it is a friendly local that is also a handy stopping off point for cyclists and walkers, for whom the old railway line has become The Downs Link - the pub is just three minutes walk away. The new tenants (in 2008) have recently refurbished and redecorated the pub, both inside and out, and offer a friendly welcome to all - including children and dogs. The Real Ale (Fullers London Pride plus occasional guests) is always in top condition and the food (home cooked) is ample and of excellent value. The is a patio and a secure garden - ideal for children in the summer months - when it also benefits from the afternoon sun, being southwest facing.
