About

Pinewood Guesthouse

With crisp linen and clean lines Pinewood Guest House is a fine Victorian residence with up to the minute facilities to enhance your stay in the ancient port of Whitby.

Positioned in the ever popular West Cliff area of the town there is much to see and do. Whitby is the home of Captain Cook, the Dracula legend and the famous Whitby Jet. See and climb the 199 Abbey stairs for one of the best views on the Yorkshire Coast.

he Heartbeat village of Goathland is just 6 miles away. Here the North Yorkshire Moors railway winds its way from Grosmont down to Pickering, taking in some of the most spectacular scenery in the area. The whole area is steeped in history. You must see the smuggler's haven of Robin Hood's Bay with its many passageways and steep walkways. (Imagine those ingots of gold being brought in at night and ships wrecked on the beach!).

Four well appointed double rooms and two family suites, each comprising a double bedroom with En Suite shower room and a separate room incorporating 2 single beds. Each with a colour TV.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities. Sorry no pets or children under 5. We are open all year round. Departures by 10.30am please.

Stayed here for Bram Stoker's Film Festival 2012, not bad as last minute booking/cancellation. So booked again for this year's festival in October, as well as three days in family room with son and widowed mom in September. For the latter - lovely double room (for mom) but attached to a cramped box 'family' room in need of refurbishment with two single beds (for son & I), one squashed against window with low window ledge, opened from bottom, making it *very* dangerous for children (and me!) to fall out. Very steamy and stuffy as didn't dare open window. Josianne made it very clear throughout she was on her own, her partner was away, moaned incessantly she had too much to do... breakfast overdone every day, luckily the yoghurt was ok... I even offered to help in whatever way i could! Nevertheless I confirmed my booking for October's Bram Stoker Festival 2013 - specifically asked for double room I had last year. One week before the festival, when all accommodation is gone (Fri 19th Oct) I get a phone call from a very vocal Josianne and find out i'm being pushed into a single room for the same price as the double room - otherwise I would be throwing out America dancers who are now paying more. Shouting at me: 'don't be angry' 'It's your fault, you're changing your plans, we thought you were coming alone'. 'The American dancers are paying more money than you'. 'It's your fault, you've changed your plans', You've changed your plans' over and over. I repeated I have e-mails confirming I've booked the *double room* - surely designed for TWO??! - but am e-mailed with a very rude 'It's best for all concerned if I pay for a family room with some friends... they'll hold the room for an hour' (I picked up the email 3 hours later). I'm supposed to accept this with no details of accommodation, address, pictures! Have bought tickets for the ball but it appears I'm now not going due to the utter greed of the very unprofessional, screaming, whining Josianne. Shocking, unprofessional, not even civilised behaviour. Book at your peril, you may get outbid!!!
