One of the things that makes me think of going to the Raj Tandoori is the special deal on offer from Sunday through to Thursday which gets you a starter, main course, rice or naan bread and a coffee or ice cream for less than a tenner. It used to be around £7 but, of course, times change. The place is clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and welcoming though sometimes you do wonder how there can be so many staff yet you can't find anyone when you need them. The menu offers a good selection of dishes and even the specials menu has plenty to choose from which is often not the case. Alas we are always disappointed at the Raj. The food is just too bland. You couldn't even describe it as 'subtly spiced' because it is is primarily over salted but lacking in any spiciness. The other problem is that unless its a very hot day its usually quite chilly and draughty in the restaurant. They do sometimes have small heaters but they are on the floor and make your feet hot while the rest of your body freezes. I can't really recommend the Raj as the food just falls short of the mark. If only the food tasted of something it would be one of the best in the city
