WHAT IS SALT THERAPY
Salt Therapy aka Halotherapy is a powerful, natural treatment in a controlled air medium that simulates the natural salt cave microclimate to treat respiratory and skin conditions. This is no health fad – from the ancient Greeks to modern-day doctors, medical experts have championed its amazing effects. In fact, the NHS officially endorses Salt Therapy to treat COPD – but only via branches of the company which has led the way: The Salt Cave.

WHAT IS THE SALT CAVE
The Salt Cave is a chain of clinics providing 100% natural, effective, risk-free Salt Therapy treatments. Visitors merely sit back in one of our treatment rooms, where the healing micro-climate of a natural salt cave is reproduced by the most advanced device called Breeze Tronic Pro. This technology is used ONLY by The Salt Cave franchise in the United Kingdom.

THE ANCIENT GREEKS KNEW A THING OR TWO ...
...and one of them was salt's positive effect on the airways. The tale then jumps to 1843, when a Polish doctor documented how salt mine workers didn't seem to suffer from the same respiratory problems as the general population. Salt Therapy generated in a controlled environment began in 1989 in Russia. The first Salt Cave opened in 2008 in the UK.

THE SALT CAVE BRINGS THE STORY INTO THE MODERN DAY
After becoming passionate about the efficacy of Salt Therapy, founders Denes Gal and Sofia Benke began a journey of consultation with scientists and doctors to develop Breeze Tronic Pro, the most sophisticated technology for replicating a salt cave.

Strategic sensors are just one of the ways the salt levels in the atmosphere are continually monitored in our treatment rooms. Breeze Tronic Pro is far superior to cheaper options, which are ineffective and potentially harmful.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Salt has the following properties:
*Antibacterial
*Anti-inflammatory
*Mucolytic effects: loosens excessive mucus and speeds up mucociliary transport
*Removes pathogen agents (airborne pollen)
*Reduces IgE level (immune system oversensitivity)
While relaxing in one of our treatment rooms, customers inhale the dry, salt-enriched air deep down into the lungs, where the healing benefits do their greatest healing. The salt loosens the mucus, which begins to clear quickly, and inflammation is reduced, which makes more room in the airways for you to breathe. Symptoms subside, sometimes for up to 12 months.

SALT THERAPY CAN SIGNIFICANTLY HELP TO:
*Reduce the need for inhalers and antibiotics
*Make your breathing easier after just a few sessions
*Improve lung function
*Reduce the number of hospital admissions
*Alleviate sneezing, coughing, and shortness of breath
*Clear mucus and sticky phlegm from the lungs
*Increase the resistance to respiratory tract diseases
*Strengthen your immune system
*Prolong remission times
*Improve general health and quality of life
*The treatment's efficacy is estimated at 75-98% depending on conditions
*Enhance sport performance for professionals

OUR CUSTOMERS ARE OUR BEST ADVERTS
Over 25,000 patients visited The Salt Cave clinics in the first five years. According to a survey 9 out of 10 clients recommend this therapy and are satisfied with the improvements.

THE NHS PROJECT
In 2011 The Salt Cave was invited by the NHS to participate in a pilot project, as part of the Personal Health Budget program, to provide therapy for COPD sufferers. The NHS paid for their clients' treatment and they monitored these clients for over a year. Based on these results, the NHS decided to pay for Salt Therapy for clients with COPD using our technology.

From 1st April 2014 everyone who is eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding has the right to apply for Personal Health Budget, and if eligible, will from 1st October 2014 be able to attend Salt Therapy sessions funded by NHS PHB. New patients found eligible for Continuing Healthcare from 1st April will also have the same rights.

MEDICAL STUDIES
In clinical trials Salt Therapy (a.k.a. “halotherapy) has proven to be effective in relieving symptoms of a variety of respiratory and skin ailments. During one of the clinical trials, Salt Therapy resulted in improvement of the clinical state in:

85% of mild and moderate asthma cases
75% of severe asthma cases
97% of chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis cases
(“journal of Aerosol Medicine, A.V. Chervinskaya, Volume 8. Number 3, 1995")

WHY IS DRY AEROSOL SALT THERAPY MORE EFFECTIVE THAN OTHER FORMS OF THE THERAPY?
Amongst dry aerosol technology there are also other types of salt therapy claiming to be just as effective. This is not true.

There are two ways salt therapy is commonly sold: the first is by placing large amounts of salt or salt bricks in a room. The reason this treatment method is not effective is not enough salt can evaporate into the room with the right particle sizes for the different conditions being treated. You would have to spend hours in a room like this to feel any effect and the hundreds of other clients coming in and out would use up the salt air very quickly.

The second method is wet salt therapy. Within this technique a saline solution is evaporated into the air and breathed in by clients. Although this is more effective than the first method the wet salt only reaches the upper airways and sticks to the nose and mouth, not reaching the throat or the deepest part of the lungs and sinuses. This reduces the salt's phlegm dissolving properties because it doesn't get to the places where the salt's effect would be most needed. This is why spending a few days on the beach is less effective than an hour in a dry aerosol salt room.

With our dry salt aerosol technology not only is the salt concentration of the air in the salt room ideal for all clients, but the particle sizes are also calculated to make the therapy as beneficial as possible to everyone whether they are suffering from a skin condition or a disease that affects the deepest part of the lungs.

SUCCESS STORIES

“I couldn't even walk up stairs without getting breathless. Asthma UK recommended me to attend The Salt Cave. I have now had approximately 20 sessions (Between June and November 2010) and I can feel and see the difference in myself. I am now able to run up the stairs at Earlsfield station and am much better in the gymnasium as regards to cycling, running and weights. I feel that my breathing has improved overall."
Barry S.

“I have slight asthma and allergic to feather pillows. I only had one treatment but overnight my air passages were absolutely clear despite the feather pillows! And the next day I felt more energised."
Sue D.

“I have Asthma, Hay fever and allergy to pollen. After the 5th session I felt something in my neck, it felt unusual. But it was a good thing. Through all of my other sessions they helped me with a lot of my problems. It's very relaxing, calm and I really like the lights on the ceiling. I hope you have a happy future!"
Diamanta K.

"I wanted to have an ‘experience' but I also suffer from allergic asthma particularly when I am in close contact with cats and horses. I can not sleep in a house where there is a cat. I have some asthma with dogs but not so bad. I found the whole experience calming and invigorating at the same time. A sort of meditation. I feel less congested and unblocked. I felt light airy and happy when I left the cave. When I arrived I felt sluggish and tired."
Marion L.

“I suffer from COPD and get recurrent chest infections which can be very debilitating. Since regular sets of sessions (6 x every other day) each month or so I have found such infections have all but stopped and my breathing has eased. The staff at The Salt Caves are great, too!"
Anthony O.

"I suffer emphysema, and my daughter treated me to a session at The Salt Caves. I went into a room covered in salt, walls were salt, floor was salt, I sat on a deck chair, the lights were dimmed, and I chilled listening to relaxing music for an hour.It was the most relaxing hour I have ever had. Once I came out, I didnt feel much different, just relaxed, but as time went on and the days went by, I felt my breathing was a lot better.I would definetly reccomend the salt caves for anyone suffering from breathing difficulties."
Michele B.

“I had sinusitis for over two years. I tried nearly everything: antibiotics, steroid nasal spray, inhalation, decongestion tablets... The doctor told me that the only solution to get better is an operation. I was very disappointed. I heard about The Salt Cave from a friend of mine and thought I have nothing to lose as it is all natural... I had my trial session and I really enjoyed the experience. After having two or three sessions I felt much better already, but then I started to feel congested/blocked again. I was reassured that it is normal and it is important to keep coming regularly until I finish my 15 sessions. After a few more sessions I started to feel better again. The headache disappeared and I could smell food again."
Edward K.

“The first day I came I could hardly breathe through my nose and I was constantly swallowing the mucous. After the first session I felt less congested, could breathe better during the night. I came regularly for the sessions and after several treatments the pressure became less on my sinuses also my headache has gone."
Carmen H.

“I developed bad hay fever in my 30s, but I have found regular trips to The Salt Cave keep it under control. I can manage my condition much better now, even the really bad days. I still come to The Salt Cave out of hay fever season just to give my immune system a boost and it seems to help in winter. I haven't had a cold in the winter months since I started my visits."
Mel F.

“As a yoga teacher it is really important for me to find complementary therapies that help release toxins and improve breathing. The Salt Cave is a beautiful relaxing environment to do just that. Some days I can stream with hayfever and it can ruin my day. The Salt Cave is a natural alternative to taking medication and instantly effective. I would recommend it to everyone."
Tish W.
