good food
this is a nice pub with a good old fashioned interior. its a friendly pub with friendly service and i always feel at home when I am there. there is a good range of beer here and also a decent choice of wine for the mrs. they serve basic pub food but its really decent and inexpensive. i've never had to send any food back and i recommend it, try the homemade pie or the fish and chips and you wont go far wrong. there is plenty of parking out front, i've never known it too busy to get parked and we have always managed to get a table inside.

I took my wife and daughter to watch AFC Liverpool play AFC Blackpool yesterday,we all met up in the shovels and where warmly welcomed by the helpful friendly staff and management,the food was superb and the price was excellent,i can highly recommend this public house,even though id rather keep it a secret,we will be back thanks to all the management and staff.Brian52 and family

The Shovels
This place has a real 'country pub' atmosphere, it's really friendly, especially on pub quiz nights. The drinks are reasonablly priced and they have a good range of beers. The thing I like about The Shovels is that it is always clean and tidy, unlike a lot of similar pubs where you end up with messy tables and your shoes stick to the floor! The meals are pretty standard gastro pub food, but they are really reasonablly priced and they arrive in next to no time at all, the staff are always warm and friendly. A great place to go for a quiet friendly drink.
