Most attractive pub/bar in W9

This is one of the greatest places to spend your day at,especially if it is sunny. They have a beautiful garden with tables outsite with a deliscious barbeque during the summer and it a spot where if you want to have a table you need to telephone and book it in advance,This is how popular it is.Night time there is a crowd of people sitting outside and having drinks,as it is so green and lovely.Inside, the warm wood floors and pieces of furniture makes the atmosphere so cosy and welcoming, once you're there, you'd not want to leave.I haven been thousand times there and can't have enough of it.I showed it to so many people and everyone falled in love with the place. But the location is not very visual,so you need to be told or showed to know about it existance.Average prices.Friendly stuff.

A nice outdoor terrace by the water, friendly staff and music tuned up low, so you can actually have a conversation. Its a good find. Food not bad too.

Little Venice Hideaway

Very nice place, with friendly staff and good but a times bizarre behaviour. It's the little details that you remember some times. Let me explain. We were a largeish party of nine people. After a few minutes we had sat down here comes the waiter with an update menu (you need to order from the set menu if you're more than 8) with an updated menu, which still had things on it that were not available. Ok, you say no problem with that. Then after during our main course one of us had his duck confit, completely undercooked - I mean how can you mess up duck confit? The slightly odd behaviour continued when one of the waiters came and picked up a single plate from the table after all of us had finished. To top it all off my last sip of the otherwise good Saint Emilion was full of sediment.Anyway, I hear you say if you're complaining so much why the four stars? Well, the food was good for starters (other than the rather crispy sticky toffee pudding) and the location and atmosphere are really good. You're metres away from the canal and the chilled out, candle lit interior really lets you relax and enjoy the company. So I would definitely go again, especially in the summer where I can just watch the canal boats gliding by.

Must be good in the summer

Before coming to the Waterway I had heard some pretty good rumours about it. Lisas review simply added to my hopes. Just had dinner there and I've got to admit that I hesitated between giving it a 3 star or a 2 star. The decoration inside the place is simple and quite warm. The food is tasty: For starters I had some chargrilled squid with chilli sauce and rocket salad of lime. This was excellent, the squid wasn't at all rubbery (as I feared) and it was perfectly chargrilled. For main dish I thoroughly enjoyed the roast duck with dauphinoise potato, glazed onions and rosemary juice. Now all this should have lead to this place receiving a four star rating. However what made it crash and burn were the continuous mistakes the staff made with regards to my business partner's order. His meat was overly cooked at two different occasions. He had ordered a rare steak and was served a well done steak, then to replace him they gave a duck but instead of being perfectly cooked as mine it too was overly cooked. There were moments of humour though as our menu changed a few times during the evening as dishes they were serving ran out. Now either this place was extremely popular during the afternoon or they're not very good at managing stock. In spite of my 2 star rating it is a place that I would go back to in the summer, as it may just be the perfect place to relax with a nice Mojito (which are pretty good there).

Canal-fronted, open-fired gastro-pub

The Waterway has been transformed from a local, downmarket pub into a warm, friendly gastro-pub.Without doubt the best time to come here is in the summer, especially during the Little Venice festival, when it is great fun to sit outside on the side of the canal and watch the canal boats floating by effortlessly. However, this is not summer, and my recent visit left me with mixed feelings. Whilst the staff tried hard, our order was messed up on a number of occasions. I started with a very tasty deep friend goat's cheese with salad which was truly delicious. I then followed this with a wild mushroom risotto. My experience is that risottos can be slightly boring and very heavy, with little variety unless the flavours are quite strong. Unfortunately, this was a poor version and I reached taste saturation quite quickly. The sticky toffee pudding was a crispy toffee pudding - interesting and quite nice, but not as expected.I would definitely come back to The Waterway again but would probably limit myself to enjoying the wonderful cocktails, unless sitting outside and experiencing the BBQ during the summer.

Trendy bar/restaurant with outside tables in Little Venice

The Waterway is great on a sunny day and during the summer, when you can sit outside by the canal and enjoy your drinks/food.I remember going there a few years ago with my friend Nicola....and then I re-discovered the place (and in general the Maida Vale/Little Venice area) when a friend of mine moved there a year and a half ago. And since then I have been to the Waterway quite a few times. They have nice drinks and good food, they also do bbq. And I always bump into someone I know there, so it feels very familiar! It gets very crowded with the good weather....
