DO NOT RENT FROM THOMPSONS
I had very similar problems with Thompsons as 'Joe Blogs' did. This was for 128 Finchley Road. Terrible terrible damp and mould, in the 3rd bedroom the entire wall was covered in it, the bathroom was disgusting and the back door flooded when it rained. They did not do anything in 5 1/2 years. I had no choice but to stay put due to a bad credit rating and not being able to move. I had dreadful chest infections from the mould, they refused to put in smoke detectors. Absolutely dreadful lettings agent. Never responded to my emails, calls or letters. I too had to get the environmental health round. If you value your sanity DO NOT rent through them

Do not rent from thompsons
A warning to the people who are thinking of renting from thompsons when we decided to move into a property owned by thompsons we didn't think we would be moving into a mould and rat infested house ! First view of the house was great freshly painted new kitchen and clean but in the first week of living in the property we started to see the mould coming through the paint in most of the rooms not only mould but in the front room and the master bedroom all the plaster in these rooms were blown and soaked with water we told thompsons about this problem they blamed us yet we were only there for less than a week ! The guy didn't even come into the house to view the problem just stood at the front door and handed us a leaflet on how to get rid of mould and if these suggestions didn't work to pay out of our pocket for a system to be put in the house for £250 ! Secondly were had rats in the bathroom roof yet again all they could suggest was put duck tape around the vents on the outside of the building ! After telling them we are moving out and that they could keep our deposit because you did not need the hassle on top of this trying to get our money back they tried to bill us for 500 pounds for new carpet through the house ! That carpet was not new when we moved in and had huge nails holding it in place in the middle of the floor which were very visable for everyone to see there was no way I was paying for them to have a new carpet fitted when I asked for them to change it when I was living there with my 1 year old boy ..... The place was a health hazard we had environmental health on there back all the time and they still did nothing. I was not the only one with these problems with thomspsons houses.. So If I was you stay clear of thompsons estate agents if anyone would like to know the house which is involved just in case you move in its 66 finchley road ipswich suffolk ip4 2ht
