very enjoyable
Took my family here for a sunday lunch and had a really nice time. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was really good, and the kids had fun playing in the garden. will definately be going back.

as good as it gets...
Having visited this pub on a number of different occasions I was impressed by the friendly, warm atmosphere, comfortable and clean decor and total family friendliness. When I mentioned that I was looking for a venue to hold a big party the owners offered to let me hold it in their pub. It was one of the best days ever. They organised amazing food, decorated the pub and garden with flowers and balloons, recommended a great singer/disco, and generally made the whole event run smoothly. The garden has plenty of toys for children and we all had a wonderful time as they were kept fully occupied. This is a pub that welcomes, rather than just tolerates children.I have since spoken to other people who have held a 40th birthday party and a christening there and I would look no further for a great venue for an event, they helped make ours really special.It's also a good place to visit at any time. There's plenty of parking, lovely surroundings and good wholesome pub food. They aren't scared to let you see the kitchen either and you would have to go a long way to find anywhere cleaner.I just don't recognise this place from some of the other reviews; every time I've been there I've met with a really laid back atmosphere and the landlord, far from being a control freak, will change the music, find you a shady spot in the garden and generally do whatever it takes to make you want to come back. (And no, we aren't related and I won't get a free drink for saying any of this!)I accept that different people appreciate different places, but I will be going back.

Stay away, Landlord was out of control.
This place isnt even worth a star - Everything was far too expensive, we bought and paid for pints and they didnt even arrive.The landlord just seemed that he wanted to start a fight, auuring us that he was a boxer and could sort anything out. Kept telling us that he had CCTV covering the whole pub, that was watching everything that we did.If you dont want trouble stay well away from this pub, I learnt the hard way.Also you are only allowed in his pub by his say so, you could only spend money there if he let you. The land lord was a control freak, and couldnt handle him self, had a very short temper, and wouldnt lission to a word you had to say. His wife called the police, but the land lord told us to stay inside the pub so he could talk to the police and when the police came inside the pub he told us to tell the police that the trouble makers had gone.Also when he had learnt that we had just ordered well over £100 of mixed grills, he compleatly changed and wanted us to stay but we made it very clear we didnt want to spend annother second in his pub.The landlord needs to sort him self out, i would be supprised if anyone would revisit the pub.If you dont want trouble stay well away!

Best Avoided...
With so many good food pubs in the area expectations are high, but barely the minimum requirements are met here. I'm not one for complaining, but the food here is well below average, as a family of 4 with 2 small kids, we were welcomed well, but then it went rapidly down hill. No cutlery, items when delivered to the table not matching the menu, and you have to pay over the odds on prices too. When I commmented to the landlady I was offered 50% off my next visit (as if I'll go back) and then wasn't given my change... It may be a lovely pub, but it is one to avoid if looking for food.
