A lively award winning country free house selling a range of Lagers, Cider, Wines, spirits and soft drinks as well as changing Real Ales and quality home cooked food. Believed to have originally been built early in the 1840s, the Fox and Hounds at Thurston has always been rooted in country pub tradition. Soon after opening came the nearby railway station and the expansion of the village placed the pub centrally in village life. Today it is very much a freehouse with its own identity and we strive to offer the same simple values of good cellarmanship and a friendly welcome that were very much at the heart of its origin.
As well as regular connections to Ipswich and Cambridge, there are frequent trains into London and the Eastern region. Whether on business, or needing a 'base' from which to explore East Anglia, or just looking for a relaxing stay, there is a wealth of things to do in the Thurston area.
