Your Licence

You can apply for a provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.Pick up a form D1 from your local Post Office and send to the DVLA with the fee and proof of identity (eg passport or UK birth certificate and passport sized colour photo). You can book driving lessons ahead of your 17th birthday and could take your first lesson on your actual birthday as long as you have received your provisional licence.
You can apply online if you are a resident of Great Britain, can meet the minimum age requirement and the minimum eyesight requirement, are currently not prevented from driving for any reason, can pay the relevant fee by Debit or Credit card, have a valid UK passport or another form of ID and can provide addresses where you have lived over the last 3 years.DVLA check your identity. If you hold a digital passport your photo and signature can be captured from the passport

Theory Test

There are 50 multiple choice questions covering a wide range of driving topics which are randomly selected. You must answer 43 or more questions in 57 minutes. The test is designed to measure your knowledge of the Highway Code and other motoring related matters. The test is carried out on a touch screen computer which has been carefully designed to make it easy to use.To help prepare, study the Highway Code and Theory Test book or CD-rom training material.
The hazard perception part of the test is also carried out on the computer and is introduced by a short tutorial video that explains how the test works and gives you the chance to see a sample clip. You will be shown a series of 14 one minute video clips, seen from a drivers point of view, each showing potential hazards. All you need to do is identify the hazards in the shortest possible time to score the highest number of points. You identify the hazards by clicking the mouse. You need to score 44 out of 75 to pass the test. You must pass both the theory test and the hazard perception test at the same time to gain a pass.If you fail one part you will have to take the whole test again. You must pass the theory test before applying for a practical test.Your theory test pass is valid for two years

Practical Test

You will be ready to take your practical test when you show that you have reached level 5 in all of the key skills detailed in your Drivers Development Record, that is when you can drive consistently to the required high standard without prompting or guidance.Only about 46% of those taking their practical test actually pass, so do not put in for your test too soon.Wait until you are ready, it will save you time, money and disappointment. You need to pass your theory test before you can apply for your practical driving test.Your theory test certificate lasts for two years.

Before starting the practical test you will have to show both parts of your driving licence and your theory test pass certificate to the examiner. The test will then start with an eyesight check which, if failed, means you cannot continue. The test lasts for about 40 minutes and you will be asked to show and tell the examiner how you will carry out two safety checks on your car before you begin to drive. During the test you must show the examiner that you can drive safely, put the Highway Code into practice and drive competently in all kinds of driving situations. You will have to demonstrate one reversing exercise selected from reversing round a corner, turn in the road, reverse parking and bay parking. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop. You will also be asked to drive independently for about 10 minutes, either following a series of traffic signs or directions. To pass, you will have to complete the test with no serious or dangerous faults and less than 16 minor faults. If you fail your practical test, but have passed your theory, you need only sit the practical test next time.

I didnt start learning to drive with Tina but when i changed to Tina i was very pleased as she was a very good instuctor and is teaching at a very high standard. Tina was always on time to all of my lessons and i enjoyed all lessons that i had with her. I eventually went on to passing my driving test first time and would reccommend any other student to drive with her.

i recieved lessons of Tina for roughly five to 6 months, and during the time that i was learning to drive i can't say that there was a lesson that i did not enjoy taking, tina is a good instructor who teaches to a really high standard, and also wants to make sure that you are going to be a safe driver once you get onto the road. tina taught me so much in a relatively short period of time, and has taught me what to do correctly and what not to do once i get onto the road. she is very punctual and never once turned up late to one of my lessons at any fault of her own. Testimonials

I passed my driving test first time with only 3 minor faults. I enjoyed my lessons with Tina as she was friendly and patient and made lessons fun! She taught in a very professional way giving a high standard of tuition. If there was anything that I did not understand Tina would go over it again to make sure that everything was clear. I would recommend Tina to all who wants to learn to drive.

I started 'Intensive' driving lessons with Tina after failing my driving test 5 years ago with a different instructor. I had no confidence at all when I started again. However, multiple lessons a week I soon became a safe and confident learner. 'Mock Tests' before my practical test showed me the areas I needed to work on. For me this was a very BIG help! Tina is efficient and kept good records of my progress so I knew exactly at what level of driving skill I was achieving. I PASSED first time with only 3 minor faults. Thank you for and excellent service! :-)
