What type of floor is right for you?

Solid wood. Each board is made from a single piece of timber, usually with a tongue and groove joint, on the long sides as well as the ends. We would normally recommend an experienced floor layer. Wood is a natural product and is susceptible to dimensional changes due to humidity and moisture. Installation should be professionally assessed and the floor acclimatised before installation.

Engineered wood. This type of flooring offers added stability. Its structure is normally made up in three layers, using a top wear layer in the species of your choice, a central core of either ply wood or soft wood and sometimes HDF (high density fibreboard). The top wear layer can vary from 1mm to 7mm.

Laminate. These floors are made from an HDF (high density fibreboard) board that is coated with a decorative wood grain effect foil beneath a transparent but hard wearing melamine top surface.
