In 2003 after many years working in the motor trade we set on the journey to design and set up a website that could bring savings to internet customers. The original website design went live in May 2004 and we sold our first car in the June. We have been trading over 11 years now and have always listened to customer feedback to improve the customer journey. Obviously technology moves on as well, so we have invested heavily over the years to produce the current 2015 version of our website. The latest 2015 version is PC, laptop, tablet and mobile phone compatible.
More and more customers are turning to the internet to buy a car and we have tried to simplify the buying process and payment. How the UK Car Discount new car buying experience works We appreciate for many people buying a New Car on the Internet is a completely new experience and whilst our staff are happy to explain the detail we have listed below the procedure for you so you are aware of each and every step in the process. We've produced a useful guide to buying a car online to help put your mind at rest over a number of potential concerns.
Register on the site at our by clicking Login and this will allow you to save cars that you have searched and configured so that you can review them again without any fuss. Using the New Car Search facility, identify the brand, price range and other specifications of the new car you are interested in buying and save the details once you are happy.
Many vehicles are available from manufacturers or dealer stock (normally 10-14 days). However feel free to call one of our sales advisors on 0845 170 7770 with your chosen make, model and colour choice of new car. We will then call the manufacturer for an estimated delivery date for your new vehicle.
At the point you are happy with the price quoted and want to order we require confirmation of your contact details and a £500* deposit. If you are taking advantage of our finance plans we will take the details required for acceptance. See ways to pay
Note *If your vehicle costs over £20,000 you will be asked for a £1,000 deposit.
Written confirmation of the order is sent to you with a receipt for the payment and confirmation of the vehicle details. It is essential that you check your written order to confirm the vehicle and registration name and address details have been processed correctly.
At the point your vehicle leaves the Manufacturer it is allocated to a Franchise Dealer where it will undergo its comprehensive Pre-Delivery Inspection & valet at which point we will contact you with a registration number and book delivery with you.
The vehicle is registered, taxed and delivered by the supplying dealer free. On delivery we ask you to inspect the vehicle and make sure it is exactly what you ordered. Once you are happy with the vehicle all we ask is you call the delivery department to confirm you have accepted delivery. You don't pay a penny until this point (unlike lots of other dealers, we don't take final payment until your new car is delivered to your door).
Once you have spoken to the delivery team they will ask accounts to confirm receipt of payment and issue you with a final invoice. The final VAT invoice will show the vehicle has been paid for in full and title transferred.See ways to pay.Enter a longer description here...
IF YOU'RE BUYING A NEW CAR ONLINE, HERE ARE SOME TIPS AND ADVICE TO HELP YOU
More and more people are now buying products online and saving money doing so, therefore it was only a matter of time before people are buying new cars online, expecting the same, great savings. But there are more than just cheap new cars available online; many online car dealers will offer a range of car finance options including car insurance bundled in with the price of the vehicle. Additionally, online dealers will generally offer a wider range of makes and models than traditional car dealers who often only promote one car manufacturer.
DO YOUR RESEARCH
Before you start, please make sure you have done your new car research. The internet is great for this; check out the manufacturer sites (we have a useful link for a list of new car manufacturers here). You'll be able to see all the colours and options available quite easily and make a few final selections. The obvious advantage of researching online is that you don't have to leave the house if the weather is lousy, the data is available 24/7 and you don't have to run the gauntlet of pushy car sales staff at a dealership.
VISIT CAR DEALERSHIPS
Coming from an online dealership, it might seem odd that we're suggesting you visit a new car dealer. We don't expect people to buy a new car online 'unseen', which is why we suggest a visit to a dealership. Get into it, try it out, even give the wheels a kick if you like. Nothing can really beat seeing the car "in the flesh". Take care when in the dealership though, as their sales teams will try hard to sell you a new car right there and then. Just let them know you're researching new cars and prices. Some things that car sales people might say to put you off buying a new car online include:
If you buy a car off the internet we will not be able to do the warranty on your new car This is simply untrue. The warranty is an agreement between you and the car manufacturer. The relevant service centre must honour it irrespective of where you purchased your new car, online or from a dealership. Dealers will try to give the impression that you must buy the car directly for them in order for them to be able to handle any warranty work on the car. Again this is not true. You'll have to wait ages for the car You may have to wait a short time, depending on the car you order. We order your car from the manufacturer and we are subject to manufacturer lead time, rather than having them sitting around a show room. That's just one of reasons we can offer new cars at cheap prices - we don't have that overhead cost to recoup in the sale price (nor the price of sales people salaries). If the manufacturer has the car in stock, we will get hold of it quicker. Internet companies won't deliver the car Some might have tried in the past, but those days are long gone. Many online car dealers will offer a range of finance options. Additionally, online dealers will generally offer a wider range of makes and models than traditional car dealers who often only promote one car manufacturer.
Indeed choice is one of the massive incentives for buying a new car online. Not only can you take your pick from the makes and models you desire, but you can choose between the specifications you want too. For example, if you're looking for a specific model in a particular colour you can simply enter the details into the online car dealer's website and see what's available. Using local garages by contrast, could mean a long wait to get exactly what you want.

This is less of a problem when buying a new car online, than buying a used car online. As the vehicle is ‘new' there shouldn't be a large variation from the car you are buying online to the same models that are available at local garages. Therefore there is nothing to stop you popping along to a local dealer and taking the car for a test drive if you do not want to rely on the pictures and descriptions that most online dealers supply. Of course that won't allow you to check for any bumps or scratches that might be present on the car you buy – so be sure to carry out a ‘spot check' before you take possession of the vehicle when it is delivered to you.
Another downside is that you will almost certainly have to wait a few days to receive the car you buy online – whereas you can drive away from a local garage as soon as you complete the purchase.
