Private ultrasound early pregnancy scan (sometimes called viability or early scan). We recommend that you present your early pregnancy scan results to your usual healthcare professional whose contact details we take at the time of booking.

Primary purpose of the scan
Determine the viability of an early pregnancy using ultrasound, single or multiple pregnancy between 7 – 11 weeks gestation, no sexing. May involve transvaginal / internal Scanning.

We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size, shape and condition of the:
bladder when full and immediately after emptying
both kidneys and ureters
prostate gland when visible
Common examples for having this ultrasound scan are:
to exclude effects of urinary tract infections (UTI)
look for obstructions due to stones in the kidney or bladder
look for causes of persistent bladder problems
look for prostate enlargement
We will provide a Sonographer report at the time with a Medical Follow Up Recommendation if necessary.

This service includes a Non Invasive Prenatal Test (sometimes called the Harmony™ prenatal blood test from Ariosa Diagnostics Inc) and an ultrasound scan.
Note that the results from your baby's DNA blood test will be available approximately 2 weeks after your appointment and we recommend that you present your results to your usual healthcare professional whose contact details we take at the time of booking.

Purpose of the blood test and scan
To test for Downs syndrome and certain other genetic conditions (T18 and 13 and Turners syndrome) from a maternal blood sample.
The ultrasound scan will determine viability, if single or multiple fetus are present and accurately date your pregnancy. Very occasionally it may involve transvaginal / internal scanning.

Common examples for having this ultrasound scan are:
evaluating the wellbeing of the uterus and ovaries before conception
estimating the time of ovulation and measuring the endometrial thickness for assisted conception, measuring follicles and endometrial thickness prior to private IVF treatment in the UK or abroad
detecting the presence and / or position of an intra uterine contraceptive device (IUCD or Coil)

This gynaecological scan is available to post menopausal women (i.e. 1 year after last period).
It involves an ultrasound scan as well as a biochemical test to assess the risk of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths among women. It results in 5 % of all cancer deaths in women.
We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size, shape and condition of the:
- uterus
- lining of the womb
- both ovaries
- if required, imaging of the bladder and both kidneys
Common examples for having this ultrasound scan are:
- monitoring the effect of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on the uterus
- detection or monitoring of fibroids
- checking for causes of irregular bleeding
- detection of endometrial polyps
- baseline screening for ovarian cancer
