Tyres

Tyres are your only point of contact with the road surface and neglecting them could endanger not only yourself and your passengers, but also other road users. We recommend that you check the condition of your tyress at least once a month. A Tyre Industry Council survey showed that almost 27% of vehicles had tyres with tread depths of less than 2mm. It is accepted that tyre performance and in particular braking in the wet, deteriorates dramatically below 2mm. Approximately 12% of vehicles actually had illegal tyres. Did you know that you are not insured when driving on illegal tyres? Worn tyres significantly impede the performance of your car and reduce the effectiveness of braking, steering, and acceleration.

Brake Fitting

Regular brake checks are of great importance for the safety of you and your vehicle. We do this with routine servicing where your brakes are thoroughly checked over with a full report by our skilled and experienced technicians. If you have any reason do believe your brakes are not in tip top condition please arrange an appointment and we will provide a no obligation brake check, and it will be completely FREE OF CHARGE. Judders and vibrations can be caused by imbalance of the tyres, a seized brake calliper, or a poor surface condition on the brake rotor (should be turned or replace on pad installation in all cases). The ways to eliminate judder are as follows. First of all check that the rotor was installed and was running true with a dial gauge, which should be done by your local mechanic. Vibration or judders at low speeds are always associated with rotor run out. Vibrations or judder at high speeds (70 - 100 mph) are what we call hot judder and are normally associated with over heating of the brake disc. This is usually because of a low quality brake rotor casting (in which case the customer needs to be asked who's rotor he was using). This is only remedied by replacement of the rotor. The other cause of vibration is known as “disc thickness variation" which is a condition generated when the rotor wears thick and thin due to incorrect installation of the rotor by the installing mechanic (in other words not running true from first installation).
