About

About me...

I studied Psychology as a mature student from 1990, gaining first a Certificate with Birkbeck College, University of London, Extra-Mural courses, and then studying for a degree full time at London School of Economics (also University of London), gaining B.Sc [Hons] Social Psychology in 1996.

Since completing my degree, I have studied in basic counselling, gaining Associated Examining Board Certificate in Counselling Theory and Skills. This was part of a long-term plan for professional development as a psychologist. However, for many years I have had an interest in Hypnotherapy and its application to Stress Management, and gained my Licence in October 1997.

I practice as a Hypnotherapist in the area around Croydon, Surrey, and can offer you Hypnotherapy, Reiki treatment, and NLP: I use all of these as appropriate to the needs of you, the client.

Hypnotherapy...

is a process of deep relaxation during which powerful suggestions are made that help to effect the required change. The relaxation itself is a vital aid to healing and the management of stress, and therefore training in a simple relaxation technique is given in the first session.

Hypnotherapy consists of hypnosis with therapy and hypnosis is a trance-like state in which suggestions for change and for personal empowerment are more readily accepted by the sub-conscious.

A state of hypnosis is common in everyday life - it feels like one of those mornings when you wake up enough to hear and be aware of what is going on around you, but you aren't quite awake yet. It is even just daydreaming, or getting lost in a book or TV programme.

During hypnosis your body is relaxed; the muscles are soft and can feel either heavy or light. Meanwhile the unconscious is able to work on the suggestions that you've chosen to be given to you.

Reiki...

What can REIKI do for you?

REIKI is an ancient form of healing which works in an all-encompassing way, balancing mind, body and spirit. It also works fairly quickly and very effectively on specific areas of the body where injury or disease is present, normally with remarkable results.

What does REIKI mean?

REIKI is Japanese: REI means `The invisible force of all essence' and KI means `That which creates, sustains and nurtures all living things'.

What does REIKI mean?

REIKI is Japanese: REI means `The invisible force of all essence' and KI means `That which creates, sustains and nurtures all living things'.

What is REIKI?

Pronounced 'Raykee' - REIKI treatment is a very simple, non-intrusive process which produces a deep sense of relaxation. The recipient will lie down, fully clothed, on a treatment couch while the practitioner gently channels the REIKI energy through her (his) hands (like rays of light) to the recipient's head, gradually downwards to the toes. It works wherever the recipient needs it most, and can be applied to any part of the body, even through bandages and casts.

REIKI is a powerful yet subtle therapy that is a completely safe, natural and holistic way of treating disease. The experience is unique, the sensations and benefits varying from person to person.

REIKI effects a deep sense of relaxation.

REIKI will help to release blocked energy, cleansing the physical body of toxins.

Origins of REIKI

Many years ago, REIKI was used as a system of holistic healing and deep meditation in Tibet. Unfortunately, as this little known practice was only passed on by word of mouth, in time it almost disappeared. Luckily, it was rediscovered in the mid-19th century by a Christian monk, who devoted his life to finding a form of healing that worked, and which could be systematically passed on to others.

Treatments

A treatment lasts between half an hour and two hours, depending on the needs of the client. It will begin with a confidential discussion to prepare a client profile and ascertain special needs. During treatment, the practitioner places her hands around you in a variety of `postures', working from the head to the toes. You will remain fully clothed and the complete experience is both comforting and relaxing. Your experience will be unique to you and may vary from session to session.

Most people experience heat coming from the practitioner's hands, others notice pleasant tingling sensations and see colours, while others feel nothing more than a sense of complete calm, deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

More about REIKI

* REIKI can be used alone or in combination with other healing methods, complementing and empowering most forms of medication and treatment.
* REIKI works on all levels of the body, going wherever it is needed. It will activate the body`s own natural ability to heal itself while restoring homeostasis, or balance.
* REIKI reaches the body, the heart, the mind and the spirit. Accordingly, REIKI can be used to heal physical disorders, nervous conditions and emotional issues.
* REIKI as a treatment can greatly enhance creativity, business and even sporting performance.
* REIKI is not associated with religion or dogma. It is practised in all walks of life, in every creed and culture.
* There is no set profile. Anyone can become a REIKI practitioner through attunement, and anyone can benefit from REIKI, even if initially they don't believe in it, or understand it.
