Virginia Cottage

Virginia Cottage is a pretty, traditional stone and slate built guest house set in Bowness on Windermere the heart of the English Lake District. All our guest rooms are en-suite and some have views over the village and surrounding fells and Lake Windermere is only 200 yards away and pets are welcome.

This comfortable, friendly family run guest house is the ideal base from which to explore some of the Lake Districts finest scenery, made famous by such people as Wordsworth and Coleridge. Cruise and enjoy the facilities that Lake Windermere, which is on our doorstep, has to offer.

To create a relaxed and stress free atmosphere our guests are mainly couples only. We do not accept groups or parties and just a few children. All our rooms are either double or four poster rooms solely for non smokers, they come with a fridge, TV, Video, CD player, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities.

Complimentary sherry is available in the guest lounge. At Virginia Cottage we know that a hearty breakfast is the best way to start the day, we offer a traditional English breakfast and a vegetarian option.

For a lighter alternative there is a choice of croissants, waffles, pancakes and crumpets - something for everyone.

Spend your days discovering those beautiful hidden places, marvel at the landscapes that enchant whatever the season, lush greenery of the forests and fells in the summer, the snow capped mountains in the winter. Then relax and unwind in the evening either splashing about at the Parklands Country Club (swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc) free to all our guests or sample some of the fine cuisine on offer in our many restaurants. Later try one or two of the quaint pubs around and about in Bowness.
