extremely rude staff at Revitalise shop, Cambridge

Service

Quality

Value

You expect prices to vary a fair bit among healthfood shops, so the biggest problem isn't that prices at Revitalise on Bridge Street in the historic centre of Cambridge are considerably higher than at the two nearby branches of Holland & Barrett. The really big problem is the rudeness of the staff. They talk to customers as if they are idiots, even sneering to each other about customers who have just left the shop, in front of other customers. Worst of all, they attempt to ram down customers' throats the goodness and environmentalist wonderfulness of their policy of charging 5 pence for plastic bags. On 5 separate occasions I have seen them be disgustingly rude to people who have asked for a 'free' bag instead, to carry away items they've just spent tens of pounds on in the shop. I have literally heard staff members (including on 3 occasion, a young tall male whose name I don't know) pick arguments with customers over the bag policy. It's quite amazing that senior managers haven't sorted this store out yet. I will continue to boycott it until I've heard it's got better. If they want to charge more than H&B, they should have better service. Trinity College, the landlords, may wish to find some other company to help keep the area friendly to tourists, and friendly to everyone, rather than let the premises to a shop which is rapidly getting the reputation as being the rudest in the city.
