Don't go here!

I've only given 1 star as it doesn't allow me to do zero. Went here for mothers day having booked 2 weeks in advance. On arrival we were informed there must have been two bookings under same name but they'd clear a table. After waiting a further 15 mins watching others arrive and be seated immediately we were still left standing about being ignored. I asked the waitress (who frankly should not be in a service industry!) when we could expect to be seated and was told a table of 19 were the priority and she wouldn't clear a table until they had their mains. Eventually another waitress cleaned a table then walked away ignoring us. After a while we took it upon ourselves to sit down. Five more minutes passed and I eventually went to the bar and politely mentioned that we would like menus. What appeared to be the manager then came out from behind the bar, grabbed 1 menu and THREW IT AT ME in front of all the other customers! I was disgusted and told him so, to which he smirked and raised his eyebrows in disbelief!! At that point we got up and left. I am glad as the food looked shrivelled up and of a low standard judging by the 19 main courses we were forced to witness being served. Ended up at The Kings Arms hotel Woodstock which was lovely and very good service. Much better. Just go here and avoid the White House at all costs unless you like having menus thrown in your face as a paying customer! Horrible tatty place I will be advising all to avoid! DISGUSTING.

We ate here recently. We received a warm welcome and prompt service. I had ribs, my wife had lamb stew and Richard had a steak pie. All the food was very good and the cost was very reasonable. We will call again.

Churchill's local - in more ways than one!

Open all day, every day, The White House in Bladon, near Woodstock is situated near to the Bladon Gate entrance to Blenheim Palace and opposite the churchyard where Sir Winston Churchill's grave is to be found. Recent winners of the Best Village Pub Award (London and Home Counties), the pub offers a superb range of traditional but interesting British food. The Sunday lunches are excellent, with normally a choice of two or three roasts. In addition to the standard menu there are many special starters, main courses and sweets on offer, all of excellent quality and at reasonable prices. Evening meals during the dark nights are enhanced by the addition of candlelight, making it a good choice for those people who might be feeling romantic! The pub is packed with memorabilia from the last century, which gives the place its unique décor. The atmosphere is excellent and the service cannot be faulted. For those that like real ale there is normally a choice of three in addition to a range of other draught beers and lagers. A definite “must" for anyone who likes good food and good beer at reasonable prices, all served in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
