Willow Trading is a lovely little oasis of calm in the busy west end of Glasgow where people come to find the very best in natural and organic skin care and to enjoy the complementary therapies at our day spa. We first opened our doors over 10 years ago. I (Caroline) am the main buyer and Roger's the man who keeps me under control and we have a fantastic team of staff who make sure everything runs smoothly!



Eight years ago when I trained as we an aromatherapist I realised that the lovely, fragrant aromatherapy products that we were selling at the time were in fact loaded with synthetic chemicals. And that these chemicals were linked to the skin sensitivities and allergies that so many people suffer from. Up to 60% of what you apply to your skin gets absorbed into your body so synthetic skin care is an easy way to inadvertently increase your toxic load. The skin is also a major route of elimination so you can see how the chemicals in our food and drinks can also have an impact on skin health.

We decided then that Willow Trading would only sell products that we would be happy to use on ourselves and our young children - hair, skin and body care made from the finest pure and natural ingredients. They had to be free from unnecessary synthetic chemicals: no sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance and no petrochemicals. Just lots of natural goodness.


Having a bricks and mortar shop means that we have a very personal relationship with our customers; many are simply looking for a fabulous moisturiser and they'll certainly find that at Willow Trading. But just as many are trying to find a natural treatment for problem skin: sensitive skin or skin prone to eczema, psoriasis, acne or rosacea. Eczema in babies and children is also very common.

So we make suggestions and offer advice and if we can, we give samples for customers to take home and try. And of course we get feed back. Lots of feedback! So we know which products work and how good they make skin look and feel. Which after all is what we all want. It's all very well having skin care that is natural and organic but we really want it to work.
