Dental Implants

Thorpe Dental Group have been providing Dental Implants in York at their Woodthorpe site for a number of years. Implant dentists, Kris Leeson are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service, using the latest technology including an onsite CT scanner to assist in case planning

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a permanent way of replacing missing teeth. Implants are small titanium screws which are placed in the jaw bone. They can then be used to attach different restorations, such as crowns, bridges or dentures. Implants can look, feel and work just like natural teeth.

Can everyone have dental implants?

Anyone who has missing teeth can be considered for dental implants. A consultation with your implant dentist will be required to assess your suitability for implant placement.

How long does the treatment take?

The complexity of the treatment required will determine the treatment time, however simple cases can often be completed within 3-6 months.

How much do dental implants cost?

Each implant case is individual and as such costs vary. Implants have often been proven to be more cost effective in the long term than other methods of tooth replacement which often require costly adjustments or replacement. Our initial consultation fee is from £105 (including x-rays).

We are now pleased to be able to provide our patients with a 5 year guarantee in respect of Implants and Implant restorations with Implant5sure

CEREC Restorations

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a dental restoration that allows dental practitioners to produce ceramic dental restorations using 3D photography.

CEREC allows the dental practitioner to produce a new crown, veneer, onlay or inlay within an hour- a procedure that would normally take up to two weeks!

How does it work?
Instead of the traditional method of using dental putty to create an impression, CEREC creates a 3D model of the tooth using a highly sensitive camera. Once this has been created, it is sent to an onsite milling machine which fabricates the tooth from a ceramic block- a process which takes anywhere from 6-30 minutes.

Ceramic blocks come in a wide range of colours and shades and will be selected to match the colour of the surrounding teeth.

What are the benefits of CEREC?
Protects and preserves your own tooth's structural integrity
Ceramics are bio-compatible
Only one appointment
Perfect looks
Perfect comfort
Perfect quality
Long lasting and durable

Sedation

Sedation is available here, at Thorpe Dental Group in York. Sedation is ideal for those of us who have a real fear of dentistry, or for those individuals with certain conditions which make it difficult for them to be treated under normal conditions.

In addition, patients who are nervous and faced with the prospect of an unpleasant, possibly distressing dental procedure can have sedation to reduce their apprehension and anxiety which may accompany it.

Sedation allows the dentist to perform various dental treatments in fewer appointments, in a stress and worry free way, for both them and the patient.

Invisalign

Invisalign- the world's most advanced clear aligner system.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a unique orthodontic system that uses custom made, almost invisible removable aligners to gently straighten your teeth and give you the perfect smile you have always wanted. As you replace each aligner every week, your teeth will move, little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.

Is Invisalign right for me?
We can offer you a complimentary Invisalign Consultation to see what options are available to you so you can see what a difference Invisalign could make.

Dentures

Available at Bishopthorpe, Copmanthorpe and Woodthorpe

Dentures are artificial teeth and gums that are made by Dentists alongside Dental Technicians to replace lost or removed natural teeth.

At Thorpe Dental Group in York, we are able to provide our patients with conventional full dentures made to replace a full set of missing teeth. We also offer partial dentures to replace only a few missing teeth.

Regardless of what kind of dentures you may need, they will be custom designed to fit your mouth, and visually matched to your existing teeth.

Why wear Dentures?
Dentures not only improve the appearance of a smile, but they also keep the structure of the mouth by supporting the structures around the cheeks and lips. Dentures also make it possible to eat foods that require chewing.

Partial Dentures

The partial dentures are fitted to the part of the gum line that they will sit on, and fasten to nearby natural teeth to keep from falling out of place. They are not permanently fastened, so can be easily taken out for cleaning and while sleeping.

Full Dentures

Full dentures replace all of your natural teeth. You can have them fitted for your top or bottom gum line, and are held in place by suction and/or the help of an oral adhesive. Just like partial dentures, they are easily removable.

Immediate Dentures

There are some other kinds of full and partial dentures that differ from traditional permanent dentures including a type called immediate dentures. These dentures are created before the teeth that are being replaced with dentures have been removed and are used immediately after tooth extraction and during the healing process. These dentures can be more easily refitted than permanent dentures to accommodate for mouth changes as the swelling in the gums and jaw subsides while healing. The immediate dentures will be disposed of once the healing process is complete and your mouth is ready for permanent dentures.

Implant Supported Dentures

These are dentures which are supported by dental implants. Dental implants are a permanent way of replacing missing teeth. Implants are small titanium screws which are placed in the jaw bone.

Implant-supported dentures have a couple of different ways in which they can attach, but should be cared for and treated like traditional dentures. It's more common to have them done on the lower jaw since the upper has fewer problems with fitting securely, but plenty of people have implants on both.

Facial Aesthetics

Here at Thorpe Dental Group in York we are pleased to announce that Dr Carlie Betts and Dr Petra Chandler offer facial aesthetic treatments, including anti wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

Anti Wrinkle Injections

What are they and how do they work?
Anti wrinkle injections use purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those lines to form over time. It works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause persistent wrinkles.
One 10-minute treatment, a few tiny virtually painless injections, and within days there's a noticeable improvement in those persistent frown lines, helping men and women achieve a healthier more youthful appearance.

Dermal or Facial Fillers

Why should I consider them?
Dermal fillers replace lost volume and treat static facial lines by replenishing the natural hyaluronic acid content of the skin. Small quantities of dermal filler are injected into carefully targeted areas to help give facial features back their fullness, reduce wrinkles and enhance contours. As a result, the face will feel smoother and look younger.

Wrinkle-relaxing treatments are one of the fastest growing cosmetic procedures today and are often used at the same time with dermal fillers or other cosmetic procedures, although in different areas of the face, for an all-over smoothing of wrinkles and facial lines. For example, wrinkle-relaxing treatments may be used on forehead wrinkles, while a dermal filler may be better used to treat lines at the mouth area.
