28A Supported Living started trading in December 2002 providing support and accommodation to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We helped people to gain life skills that enabled them to move and live in their own home with reduced support. However the need for housing was so great the tenants were not a priority with the local authority. As a result they were unable to secure a tenancy.

To solve this problem, in June 2005 we became a not for profit organisation and social landlord.

Being not for profit means that our Directors do not get shares or end of year share profits. They are paid a salary as with our other employees. Any profits are invested back into the company, in order to improve its service. Some of this money is used for staff training, employing more staff, improve the quality and housing provision, and to help us reach a wider range of disadvantaged groups.
