I stayed at the Amber Lodge guest house with my friend who was visiting from up North. We wanted somewhere near to the town centre as neither of us drive, but this was the closest we could find at short notice. There is a frequent bus service just along the road and there are a few local shops nearby too which is handy. The rooms are fairly standard, they are clean and well maintained, very basic but really all you need for a weekend stay. The landlords are exceptionally welcoming and friendly and very knowledgable about the local area.We had breakfast there and it was delicious; the best scrambled eggs on toast I have ever tasted in fact! There was quite a range of options for breakfast so there is something to suit everyone's palate. The only real downside we found apart from the distance from the town centre was that the walls are rather thin and you could hear what was going on in the next room which was a little disconcerting, but all in all, a good bed and breakfast that I would recommend.
