The Location
Bachelor Holidays are held in the Karon Beach/Kata area of Phuket Island, Thailand. Phuket nestles in the Indian Ocean in the south western corner of Thailand and enjoys the very best of tropical weather, tempered by the cooling see breezes associated with island life. An area of outstanding natural beauty with plenty to do. Fabulous beaches with water sports and activities, golf courses, clubs, bars and restaurants but, most of all, a plentiful supply of beautiful Thai ladies. What more could a bachelor ask for? Until recently, Karon had been overshadowed by it's much larger neighbour, Patong. Now Karon has come into it's own, with such a varied selection of facilities and with entertainment being cheaper, very few people bother to take the 10 minute taxi ride to Patong. The bars stay open until about 2am, but there are often impromptu beach parties which last until dawn.
Karon Beach
Karon Beach boasts a two mile stretch of golden sand, stretching from Karon at the northern end of the bay, to Kata at the southern end. It is never so crowded that you can't get a sun bed and giant parasol. The beach and the sea are very clean and swimming is nearly always safe, except in the monsoon season when a rip tide can be running, but on these occasions warning flags are displayed. There are numerous outlets for booking water sports and activities along the beaches of Patong, Karon and Kata and several first class golf courses within easy reach.

Got a Thai girlfriend now! But website needs updating.
The great news for me is that the lady I chose for the 4 nights of my 'Short Stay Break' is now my girlfriend! However, in the interests of honesty, the website needs updating... The website suggests all the accommodation is in, or within a 10 minute walk, of Karon, and all the action is in Karon. This is no longer entirely true. The local rep has recently moved his base of operations to his restaurant in the village of Rawai, a 20 minute drive from Karon. I was taken to Rawai for the first night, introduced to a lovely lady from a neighbouring bar, had our meal and was driven back to the hotel in Karon (Pacific Club). So far so good, but on the second night, the rep drove me from Karon to Rawai for my massage (delayed from the first night) at which point he announced that he was no longer going to be my personal taxi driver, and that I was expected to find my own way around, and he proceeded to get drunk with one of his mates. My girl and I were left to find a taxi to take us the 20 minute journey back to Karon. So much for the free transfer after midnight promised on the website! After that, my girl (fast becoming my girlfriend) chose to come to me in Karon on her motorbike (everyone in Thailand rides a motorbike). I offered to pay for a taxi for her but she preferred her bike. There was no need to go to Rawai, nor eat in the rep's restaurant, so we spent our evenings and hot nights in Karon! Having spent over £1000 on a 4 day holiday, I was not expecting to be left having to arrange transport, nor should it be left to the girl! The website needs to be updated to reflect these changes.
