Restaurant - French in Wolverhampton
40c, Bath Rd
Wolverhampton
West Midlands
WV1 4EP
Having read the review of this restaurant in the local newspaper (Express and Star),we decided to give it a go as the undercover restaurant critic had been glowing in his praise. On arrival we were greeted by a charming young man who took us to our table where we found a beautifully laid assortment of cutlery, fresh flowers, and complimentary still and sparkling water-indeed a good start! We were seated, offered both the menu and a wine list and had freshly baked bread of different types brought to us very promptly. The menu consisted of some very good but not groundbreaking dishes that i felt very comfortable with and we both decided to go for the goats cheese tartlet for starters followed by the lamb for myself and my partner decided on the fillet steak. Both were cooked to perfection and it was very obvious that the quality of meat being used was of a very high standard. We shared a cheeseboard and were given a small glass of complimentary port each to accompany the cheese. The ambience was very relaxing and had a definite "grown up" feel about the place. We dine out around the West Midlands on a regular basis and although we have been to places that are ahead of Banks Bistro in terms of quality I am of the firm opinion that none of them can be found in Wolverhampton!
