I was given a trial at the Hay Loft Cafe within Bluehills Farm, I was overjoyed to be offered the position after my successful trial. My trial was on a Friday when the cafe was having a quiet day, The other kitchen staff were lovely Patsy,Ruth and Bev, very welcoming and friendly, even though I had been warned not to work for Mr.Ives, after my trial I felt fine. I had to give a weeks notice at my previous job and did so to start at Bluehills Sunday the 2nd If October 2016 (The majority of my jobs have been kitchen based) I started at 8am got everything set and prepared, baring in mind my trial lasted 2hours and I wasnt shown the ropes of how they run their kitchen in detail. So i did my best.Mr Ives ordered some breakfast, he then called me over and tried to tell me I had served him raw sausages, (which was 110% not the case) but I apologised and re-made his breakfast. The pan they cook their fried eggs in, in oil wasnt cooking the eggs at all which ide mentioned numerous times to be huffed and puffed at by Mrs.Ives. The cafe was getting busyer and as stated this was my first proper day in a kitchen I hadnt been shown around sufficiently nor had I been shown "their ways". But lets be fair cooking a full breakfast is not rocket science!!! Orders were coming in at a fast pace, and again due to not been shown "their ways" In any other kitchen I have worked in orders are generally shouted to the cook, at Bluehills they just put them on a prep area, So I had not seen some orders that had been taken, but i muscled on to my full ability still having issues with the egg pan not cooking the eggs. Mrs.Ives was also wiping food with paper towels before sending it out to customers. Next thing the pompus arrogant, rude idiot of an owner Mr.Ives is telling me to take my pinny off and leave his premises as "you dont cut the grade" is what he very abruptly shouted at me. I was in utter shock, and replied with "im sorry what" to were he continued with a horrific mannor to speak to me like a piece of poo on his shoe, baring in mind this idiot knows I have 2 young children and had given my notice in to come work for him. His manner of abruptness and downright rudeness continued to where I blew my top at him. I would advise people A. Dont work for this idiot B.Dont go to this place, ive seen how its run. C.The owners are horrific. AVOID AVOID AVOID

VERY RUDE FARMER

While jogging cross country over C & J Ives farm land I inadvertently lost the footpath due to bad signs and poor maintenance.   The elderly farmer pulled up on A58 adjacent to the field,  and straight from the off he started shouting in very rude manner.  Obviously he had been watching too much Downton Abbey over Christmas as he was shouting as if he owned all Birkenshaw,  but wishing he lived in East Bierley where proper Gentlemen  can afford to live.   I tried to explain I had just lost the path  but was very arrogant and dismissive.    He had NO people skills and seemingly had never learned how to talk to people in the correct manner,  in fact that was the problem he thought he was lord of Manor.   He needs to realize times have changed this is 2012. I for one will never shop at his farm again neither will my friends or family,  I erg you to do the same
