Good family pub, great food

We sat outside on a lovely summer evening. Great views of rolling hills, and sitting not far from the road was surprisingly good - not much traffic. Extensive kids play area round the back, but that didn't stop the owners' kids from cavorting next to our table (the only downside).Slow cooked lamb shank for me - very good, although a side of ratatouille was odd, and was a bit much with the enormous jacket potato as well. Others hadsc#mpi, bbq ribs, pork & leek suasages - all standard pub grub, but very well done; this seems to be a rarity these days - plenty of pubs offer that menu, but to produce it to this quality is unusual.Friendly service; it was very busy, and we warned it would take a while, which was fine. There's a big restaurant section inside too. They do need some new plates - most of ours had little chips.Definitely going back.
