About

WELCOME TO CHILTERN HILLS ACADEMY

Thank you for visiting our profile and welcome to Chiltern Hills Academy. We are proud of the progress that we have made in recent years. Our examination results in KS4 and in the Sixth Form are the best ever achieved in the history of the school.
Our students are motivated talented and respectful of staff and their peers. Our staff and governors have high expectations; they are highly committed to ensuring that they support our young people to achieve their very best.
The £10 million building programme is well underway and on schedule to be completed by September 2013. The new music facilities have been completed and in April the new Sports Hall, changing rooms and Sixth Form centre will be opened. In the meantime the contractors are working with us to ensure that there is minimum disruption to school life.
We will become the first choice school for young people in Chesham and the surrounding villages. Our IT facilities, design and sporting facilities will be the best in the area. This combined with our high expectations for academic achievement and commitment to clear values will ensure that all young people have the best opportunity for success.
I do hope that you will find the website informative and helpful. If you need further information about any aspect of the Academy do not hesitate to contact us (Contact page) or do come and visit us.

Each day you will be set homework, remember to record that in your planner and :
Do homework as soon as possible after it has been set. Don't leave it until the night before it is due to be handed in.
Find somewhere quiet to work, so that you can concentrate.
Pack your school bag in the evening to avoid a panic (and perhaps a missed bus) in the morning.
Your Planner must be checked and signed each week by a parent or guardian.

Ethos and Vision

The Chiltern Hills Academy will be an inspirational Academy which will seek to transform the lives and aspirations of its students. High academic standards will be at its forefront and go hand in hand with the sponsors' commitment to considering young people ‘as a whole', developing proactive learners and well rounded citizens. We will build strong and effective partnerships with business, industry and local organisations, to engage and enthuse them to place learning at the heart of a thriving and confident community.
The Academy will develop a distinctive identity, based around the specialisms of Design and the Performing Arts, from the relevance of its curriculum to the world of work, the development of well-rounded individuals and the celebration of success and achievement in all its forms.
The Academy will equip all students with the necessary skills to be able to manage their own learning and to prepare them to be successful in the working world due to the employability and enterprise skills which they have gained. The aim is to give students the tools to improve their own life opportunities whilst also making a positive contribution to the community and the economy.
Our Vision is to create a new academic and technical Academy:
Where young people enjoy learning and achieve through creative and cultural experiences;
To raise aspirations for success within the community;
To strive for excellence by developing a personal vision for a high quality of life and economic wellbeing.
We expect all in our community to ‘create, aspire, excel' in all aspects of their learning. We will provide every opportunity for this to be achieved.

What is a partner?

We have brought together an exceptional range of partners to support our specialisms and to ensure that everyone who studies or
works at the Academy gets the very best they can from it.
Our partners will bring exciting opportunities for students and staff. Pinewood Studios is a commercial centre for over three hundred different businesses; our students will be able to gain insight into the world of creative media and all the associated business links. The staff, students and higher educational partners are keen to support our students as mentors to help them realise their dreams and aspirations. We have high achieving schools prepared and ready to support us with staff training and to help us develop lessons that stretch the most able and support all students.
