Knife Crime in our area is not as bad as the next borough !

I know, how crazy is that statement? But every authority in our fine country feel the need to compare rate play down. Where we live, even the uk, is not as bad as the USA or Brazil etc etc, so with that I must of been, dare I say it, Just plain unlucky. Wrong place, wrong time sort of thing. Lightining never strikes twice, well im afraid it does. I am a very lucky survivor of knife crime on more than one ocasion. Some work related, some not im over fourty years old now. When I was a kid we all had pocket knifes. The last thing on our minds was :marking,maiming,sticking,slashing another person. Pier pressure: films,music,video games, all play a part in de sensitising of our youth. Some say the theory of goverments and there problem of fight or flight in times of war sound crazy again. So how do we stop being a statistic, and or front page news. Not an easy one is it? I think communities," or lack of" play a big part. When I was younger if you did anything, some one always saw, even when no one was there. Mum was always waiting at the gate as you got home, the look alone was enough.These days you see and hear of people being mugged,beaten or worse in broad day light, in full view.But no one sees anything! Dont want to get involved, not their problem. Im not saying become" an have a go hero" but, use common sence. Maybe your camera, or record button on your phone may be of use the next time you see an happy slappy, or anything happen. If your in a car, pen and paper as the song goes, If you tolerate this, your children will be next !As a society we owe it to each other, to stop this happening in our neibourhoods. Why listen to me? who am I anyway ? Well im a Father of five, have lived, and still live on an housing estate, for over fourty years.Ive lost friends through drugs,drink etc, saw some genuine intelligent people throw away their life, or worse take somone elses life with them. I am a martial artist as my trade, and I have a fair amount of parents bring their children to me, for me to teach them how to fight.However We use NLP Skills and large amounts of "sadley" not so, Common Sence. I Offer knife and edged weapons awareness courses to youth group and schools. No ninja moves involved.But alot of commen sense and ideas to help stop the next statistic, or front page news.
