Rogue Trader Alert!

Lets just say 'you get what you pay for'. I ended up with nothing like what I was quoted as he continually chopped and changed what he wanted to do without any consent, sometimes after even being told not to do something. I was presented with threatening texts when I queried the quality of his work and upon questioning him as to why the fence and gate he built me fell down in the first wind i was again greeted with intimidating texts and boasts about how much money he has. Within weeks of him leaving I am having to correct quite literally everything he did as weeds have grown through the drive (little membrane put down), patio slabs were loose and caked in cement, drains were blocked, woodchip was laid over mud, bits of wood were added to gate posts to make them 'fit'...the list goes on! A dozen tradesmen have since visited the site, all have been disgusted by Henrys work Needless to say he never turned up to resolve any of the problems he caused despite promising numerous times

COWBOY ALERT! THE MOST DISHONEST AND INCOMPETENT TRADESMAN I EVER MET!

I employed this company/gardener to chop down trees, flatten my garden, replace my driveway, put up a fence and a gate and build a path/patio, all of which were included in the quote. These were the problems I encountered with him: - He barely ever turned up - The project took over 4 times longer than he told me - He left tree stumps almost knee height despite quoting that they would be taken to ground level - He did nothing to secure the gate to the ground - He used very very little membrane under the gravel driveway and weeds were appearing through the gravel just 2 weeks after he 'finished' - He did such an awful job of levelling the drive that he tried to compensate by putting 10 tonnes of gravel on an area that should have only had half, the result of which means its nearly impossible to walk or drive on it. - He did nothing to retain the gravel on the driveway. - He changed the plans when he felt like it despite being told not to. - He decided he didn't want to build a path and decided to just gravel it instead. - He used very low quality paving slabs despite ensuring me they were of the highest spec. - He gravelled over general waste such as plant pots and left large chunks of the old drive within the gravel - He did nothing to stop the gravel getting into the drain and as a result blocked it. - His idea of a patio was a random bunch of square slabs in an area that was not even square. - He did laid the slabs when it was minus temperatures and then accused me in a threatening manner of walking on them because they were all loose (I obviously didn't step on them) - He gravelled over an in use drain cover despite being told by myself that it was against the law to cover up an in use drain. - He used no membrane whatsoever on the gravel around the patio and placed the wood chippings straight on top of mud! - Upon me inquiring as to how much it would cost to woodchip a very small area and the next day he bought a small bag of woodchip without my consent, chucked it straight on the mud and charged me 5 times what the woodchip actually cost him. - He left a thick edge of cement all the way around the patio. - He didn't even measure the width of the driveway gate before putting the posts in and as a result had to keep adding on bits of wood to the posts to lessen the gap at the expense of the strength of the posts and gate. He did the same to the gate by the fence as well. - He had to place the driveway gate almost a foot above ground to compensate for how unlevel the drive was. - He cut a post too short so he stuck on a tiny loose piece of wood which he then attached the gates hinge too, leaving the hinge incredibly weak. - He attached the fence panels to the fence posts using a nail gun with nails that barely touched the posts and as a result the fence panels came down and broke in the FIRST wind after its erection. Now I was actually prepared to accept these because I just wanted him and his atrocious workmanship out of my life but then this happened... As well as the fence panels coming down in the wind just a week after him leaving, where the latch on the gate post was so poorly fitted and didn't sit properly the wind continuously smashed the gate post with the latch until the gate post came off the wall and the latch bent to almost a 90 degree angle. I was then horrified to find he fitted a huge 5 by 5 inch post to my wall with just TWO screws, that's right TWO!!! I immediately text him about this on my way to work as I wanted this secured as soon as possible as it was a massive security risk considering there was lots of builders equipment behind the gate/fence. He refused to reply and then after a further text a few days later he replied with threatening language claiming he will happily waste money on solicitors all year long if needed. He then said I should be happy that I got anything because it was a 'dump' beforehand. After then telling me about how much his dad is worth, threatening me and criticising my renovation project he eventually promised to be by in the next day or two to fix the gate and gate post. Needless to say he didn't turn up so I sent him an e-mail as previously instructed to his company address, no reply, then again a week later, no reply, and again a week later, no reply. I then find out he has taken pictures of my property to post on his website without any permission whatsoever and despite being able to fix the fence panels myself, the gate and gate post remains unresolved and as a result my builder refuses to leave his equipment in the garden as it is a security hazard, this is causing time delays which are costing me more money. It is also worth noting that I have had 7 tradesmen to view Henry's work as well as a lot of other interested parties who have quite literally all been horrified by his work, his threats and his complete lack of desire to resolve this. I almost forgot that I have a very strong suspicion that he has wrote himself reviews on my behalf. Thanks and I hope this arrogant, awful excuse for a tradesman gets exactly what he deserves.
