Good food and wine!

I have enjoyed many evenings at Dimitris sampling the the mixed platter while working my way through a few bottles of wine. There is nothing better than bagging a table under the arch on a hot summer night (obviously not this year)! I did once come with a very large group and sat downstairs - the food was still good but it felt a little claustrophobic. However it can become very crowded at the weekend so you do risk being squeezed into a corner. It's not cheap but so many people wouldn't patronise the place if they didn't think it was worth it. We did once sit near a couple who slipped out without paying, taking advantage of the fact that the staff were exceptionally busy. I can't believe how despicable and underhand some people can be!

Judging by the performance of getting a table at Dimitris we should have been in for a fantastic night! Booked a table for four at 8pm on a Saturday well over a week in advance, however needed to add another two guests couple of days later, was told that the only time they could accommodate six would be at 9.30pm after some discussion with the manager during several calls we agreed that we should arrive around 9 and if the table was free then we would be seated. We arrived at 9.10 made ourselves known to the manager who was very of hand and told us to wait in the bar and he let us know when the table was ready, dead on 9.30 not a minute earlier we was shown down stairs to our table for six, along with a party for 18, I pointed out to the manager that we wanted to be in the main restaurant and not in the basement with what was a private party, his response was “you will enjoy it, I assure you” we followed the waiter do the stairs and was lead to the table one of which square the other round that had been pushed together, never have I been in a restaurant that have classed two odd shape tables as one! Waiter made a suggestion that we order Meza for 6 although one in our group had asked for a Lamb Kebab, convincing us that this would be more than enough, and if not, we could order the Kebab, when the food came it was like playing chess trying to move glasses, bottle wine, water and candle around so we could find enough space for the food! Food was average! Ambience no existence, waiter apologetic, manager invisible!!WON'T BE BACK FOR SECONDS!!!!

Very popular

I love this restaurant, it's very friendly and the menu is superb. It's great in the summer when you can sit in the veranda area at the back of the restaurant. My only criticism is that the place does get very crowded at weekend evenings but that's the proof of the success I guess...

Unfriendly and unwelcoming

Service

Unfriendly staff, average food. Good surroundings, but as our waitress gave our table (that we had booked days in advance) to another customer, and then with no explanation or apology plonked us next to the door, we didn't get to appreciate the ambience very much! I have never felt so unwelcome. Won't be visiting again. My advice is don't bother going, you'd only be putting the staff out by being there and ordering food!

Established itself as one of Manchesters best Greek and Tapas Restaurants. However, the food is not cheap and can be a little hit and miss. Definately worth a try though. Or simply have a drink in their authentic feel bar with the locals.
