Unscrupulous Cowboy
I employed Donnelly to install a new roof, guttering and roofline and to roughcast the walls. He left the job incomplete and my property in disgraceful condition. The roof was incomplete with about 4 ridge tiles missing. The roofline and guttering work wasn’t started. The roughcasting was carried out to the bottom of walls despite agreeing with him to install a bellcast bead a few feet from the ground and render below it. Roughcast to rear was incomplete or rough and unsatisfactory in places. Disused vents were not roughcasted over as agreed. The window sills were not repaired as agreed. The windows were not sealed during roughcasting and subsequently damaged. The glazing will have to be replaced at a cost of £900. No sheets were used on the ground during roughcasting and subsequently the driveway and decking were damaged. The general state of property was disgraceful. There was roofing and roughcasting debris all around the property. The windows were caked in debris as was the driveway and decking. Despite all my efforts Donnelly made no attempt to return and complete or repair his shoddy work or clean up the mess he made. I had to employ a reputable tradesman to complete and repair Donnelly’s shoddy workmanship at considerable cost and sent a bill to Donnelly for these costs but as expected ignored it. I reported him to Trading Standards and consulted with the Citizens Advice Bureau who both advised me to pursue a claim in the Small Claims Court. Trading Standards have had many complaints about Donnelly. I pursued the Small Claims and won but when the Sherriff Officer pursued Donnelly he discovered that he had dissolved his company, not surprisingly around the time he was issued with the summons. The Sherriff officer said he has done this numerous times over the years and is one of the biggest debtors in the Monklands. Donnelly is shoddy, unscrupulous, uncaring cowboy rogue and should be avoided at all costs.
