Abusive NEDS

At about 12:00 on Wednesday 23rd of August, I was riding by bicycle through a set of temporary traffic lights on the A814 adjacent to HM Naval Base Clyde. Just as I was passing the vehicles waiting at the lights in the opposite direction, I heard someone shout, “Get on the footpath ya pr**k”. I was extremely annoyed by this because I am frequently abused by motorists either gesticulating or as in this case verbally shouting obscenities at me. Furthermore, riding on the footpath is illegal. I stopped, turned in the road and cycled back to the truck that the abuse had come from. There were two occupants in the vehicle so I asked what they had said. The driver said, “I said get on the footpath”, I said, “And?” The driver said, “Ya pr**k” I enquired as to why he shouted this insult at me and he told me he believed I should be on the footpath as I was holding up traffic through the roadworks at the lights. Now the passenger joined in and said that I must have jumped the red light because the light their side had changed to green and then stopped them before they could get through. I told them that I had not jumped the red light; there were also another two cars behind me so those vehicles must therefore have also jumped the red light. I informed him that the timing of the lights was too short for me to get through before the lights changed. The passenger, who is now the main conversationalist (if you could call his loose grasp of the English language conversation) said, “that’s nor my problem.” I assumed that he thought it must be my problem. The discussion continued in the same vein, but my attempts at educating these two with regard to the law and highway code rules was simply too much for them and I could see that they were unsuitable for training. I was about to move on when the passenger opened the vehicle door and got out, I quickly lay my bike down in anticipation of a physical conflict but when I turned around he had got back in the vehicle. I asked him what his intentions were, he told me he wasn’t scared of me, but then the lights changed, so he spat at me called me a w**ker and bravely they drove away. This was an E H Noble & Son truck, coal and solid fuel merchant, registration number YP65 YVS. Suffice to say I will not be buying my logs from them. I am writing this review in the hope that Mr or Mrs Noble or their son read it and take whatever action they deem necessary. I wonder if this is the same vehicle as in the review above.
