My mother bought a fire in October 2012 from here and paid for it to be installed. The fire has never worked properly and has failed to be installed to Gas Safe standards. We are still trying to sort this out

I have never ever been subject to such an unprofessional and frankly misleading service in my life. Rather than buying cheap on the Internet, we were willing to pay more to buy from a shop so that we could see the product we were buying, support a local business and receive a more personal service - but boy were we wrong! I am still shaking from the unbelievably discourteous, abusive and appalling service I received. We knew exactly what we wanted (wonderfire chic balanced flue gas fire for my disabled mum), and I had telephoned the owner beforehand, who had informed me that he had the fire in stock and one on display along with a number of other balanced flue fires so we could buy on the day. I myself came up from Cambridge (120 miles round trip) to pick my disabled mother up who lives in Enfield to take her to the energy place. On the phone the owner was nice as pie. When we arrived we found that we had been totally misled. Not only did he not have the wonderfire chic in stock, he did not have any balanced flue fires whatsoever in stock. When I questioned why he had told me on the phone that he had such fires in stock when he knew the fire was not in stock, thereby causing an unnecessary journey, his remarkable his response was that no harm was done,as it was good for my very disabled mother "to get out of the house". He then attempted to pressurise me into buying an electric fire which I did not want, and called me "thick" for wanting a gas rather than an electric fire (I have a PhD by the way). The owner will say anything to lure you into his shop, and then try high pressure sales to sell you what you do not want, and insult you if you refuse to purchase. unprofessional beyond belief. No wonder his shop was empty. we walked out.
