Eight warehouse operators were trained by Epoch practitioners to use a range of lean tools and techniques to identify poor delivery of finished goods. The team produced value stream maps and spaghetti diagrams which highlighted the movement of goods and people to deliver finished goods. It became clear that the root cause was the warehouse layout of shelving and location of goods. The team planned and completed the reconfiguring and relocating of goods, minimising double handling and wasted movements. The result was a 40% reduction in the cost of operation and delivery, taking the warehouse to world class standard.
